This is going to appear to be a ridiculous comparison given these dudes are doing it for the chance to earn millions of dollars.

If they were paying millions of dollars to pick cotton, Im sure a lot of it would be done voluntarily.

The work conditions aren't the same obviously but the practice of lining up naked men to assume their fit and health is akin to make such a comparison.

I understand your point of view but I also understand the methods of organization from slavery persists.

They make millions sure, but that is peanuts to the billions that the owners take. I wouldn't get so bogged down by some of the context as you would miss the context being presented.

well no shyt the owners make more they are the owners of the league. nfl players have a union to make sure they are compensated fairly from the revenue they generate. they negotiate a split. imagine slaves trying to form a got damn union :mjlol:

its fukking stupid to even try to make this seem like a good point. show me a worker that gets paid close to what the owner makes. nfl players create billions and get paid millions. normal workers make their owners billionaires every year and only get paid thousands.

slaves built america and got paid……nothing.

if you can’t see how this is a dishonest comparison you’re a fool.

The NFL combine is some white male sexually obsessed over black masculinity like slavery sort of stuff.

Evil racist cacs will be upset but anyone with a brain will see where he is coming from
It’s really not that deep.

Would you rather have a wide receiver with 10 1/2 hands with a 40 inch vertical or one with a 32 inch vertical and 9 3/4 hands you will be paying the guy you picked millions of dollars and your teams success is dependent on this person

Is it slavery to take a physical exam for a job? Is it slavery to being interviewed for a job? Is it slavery to take skills aptitude exams for a job? Is it slavery to do drills and fitness tests to become a fire fighter?

The fact nikkas think like this and have to make these type of allusions is a mental illness

I don't get the comparison nobody forces these dudes to play in the NFL
Are you sure? If you’ve been conditioned to accept that’s your only way out, and others are more in love with your talent and what it produces than you are, and they perpetually instill in you that your worth is derived from what you provide to them, it starts to take a toll.
I’m from Alabama and grew up in pop Warner football culture. Most of the all black high schools (schools still de facto segregated since neighborhoods are and that determines school zones here) are dropout factories but produce talents like Jemarcus Russell and Demarcus Cousins, and the private schools with better accommodations recruit us just like the NFL and colleges. They use us for our free labor at that level and offer compensation if you make it to that 1%. Otherwise be happy with the free room and board “we” give you. If you don’t like it then you can get out. That is their argument. You can always go back to the proverbial field if you don’t want to comply.

I hated my white coaches outside of a few.

You guys are taking the whole experience when he is speaking to one aspect.

The comparison in Kaeps show was about cacs benefiting off the hardwork of blacks for centuries - especially sports, the NFL in particular.

The auctions were a physical examination - just like the combines where cacs benefited off of blacks. Thats a valid comparison.

Sometimes it feels like none of us have left the plantation and our athletes/rappers/celebs are the ones who make it to the auction block. What good is being a millionaire when you are still subject to laws that relegate you to being a peon?

I understand both sides of this argument but skilled enslaved workers were compensated as well and worked to take themselves and their families out of poverty. Most of the revolts led by enslaved people (that history tells us about) were led by those with access (a form of privilege in a fukked way) to the white social structure to understand what they were fighting.

on the other hand, the auction block was a place where they used pseudoscience to evaluate the worth of black people. We got an auction block downtown in my city right across from a fukking federal courthouse. That’s where the auctioning happens when they are swapping out cases like Pokémon cards. But two things can be true so I see the pros and cons

Of course they are similar when you over simplify things and remove the big facts

Slaves literally and their freedoms restricted. Couldn't read, write, and were raped frequently. Athletes don't have such restrictions. They can demand trades. Get endorsement deals and outside income. There's literally a players union.

And miss me with "some slaves could buy their freedom or get paid" like that applied to most slaves.

And whites take part in the combine too....

Next thing you know, you'll probably tell me "whites were slaves too yknow" gross

You are a cac poster throwing around "nikka", shaddap. Its bizarro to have grown men prance around in underwear especially when its proven the combine performance barely has any correlation with draft position

Been through a combine beforw...in a sense he is right
No there is "no sense" where he's right. Slavery isn't atrocious because men are shirtless and being examined for their physical attributes that literally happens in any industry where people use their bodies for performance (military, modeling, dance, fitness, etc). Slavery is atrocious because people were forced against their will and stripped of their humanity.

He didn't have no problem going thru the poking and prodding, going thru this combine when he wanted into the league to make those millions. Now that he's not getting back in it's looking like sour grapes...we all know the message is weak at best but we not trying to hear it from this messenger. Gtfoh Kap.

the one aspect is ridiculous because in the grand scheme it is irrelevant. you gotta go through a physical & examination to make MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. boo hoo. you are being put in a position to create generational wealth for you and your family. drawing any comparison to slavery is asinine and disrespectful. if he was genuinely black he would understand that. but he’s trying to overcompensate cus he’s only half black and was raised by 2 cacs with cac siblings.

get played brehs.

let's put aside the messenger and just deal with the message, i'll explain it to you. we can't be myopic & start speaking about being forced to work against your will for nothing while being whipped, beaten, raped, tortured VS voluntarily signing up for a professional sports league to make millions. we get that, ok? but you're discussing a blade of grass & not the entire forest. the point being made is that the combine for tom brady is NOT the same combine for donovan mcnabb. peep this:

PHILADELPHIA — The NFL on Wednesday pledged to halt the use of “race-norming” — which assumed Black players started out with lower cognitive function — in the $1 billion settlement of brain injury claims and review past scores for any potential race bias.

The practice made it harder for Black retirees to show a deficit and qualify for an award. The standards were created in the 1990s in hopes of offering more appropriate treatment to dementia patients, but critics faulted the way they were used to determine payouts in the NFL concussion case.

do yall understand now? this league actually said well the n*gg*rs are dumb animals who start out with lower cognitive functioning anyway so when it is measured in retirement? give jerome bettis less money than mike alstott even though have the same cognitive functioning score. because jerome's was low to begin with based on being dumb & black and mike's was higher based on being smart & white. WOW these devils :snoop:

so this scientifically racist deterministic sociobiology akin to the bell curve permeates EVERY FACET OF THE NFL INCLUDING THE NFL COMBINE. biracial jafar with the blassic lionel richie in the commodores afro is right b. no matter how you feel about him personally
