It all comes down to the writing, as far as acting anybody who isn't Harrelson and McConaughey is gonna initially be a disappointment. I'm kinda glad they went left with the casting though because you want the show to stand on it's own instead of constant stunt casting. After a certain point it's like, ok who else can they cast? Let's say season 2 they got Brad Pitt and Idris Elba, or Anthony Hopkins and Morgan Freeman....eventually who they cast would trump what the show is about. It's damn near at that point right now....people talking about season 2 is gonna suck and ain't seen 1 second of it.


People need to judge season 2 on it's own merits.

I think Vince and Colin will be fine as long as people don't go comparing them to Woody and Mathew. This Season should be judged on it's own merits.

Vince Vaughn started his career in drama and even in Swingers, that was more of a dark comedy, he would be perfect for True Detective. Nikkas must've forgot about domestic disturbance, dude was creepy as hell.

I think this can be a very good season. Don't think we should compare it too much with the first season but naturally we are in some degree going to compare it anyway..

Vince Vaughn is the guy i don't know a lot about but i'm sure that they know what they are doing, it's not like they are picking some random comedian into the series, he has probably done something in the past that proves he can act in a certain way.
Why the small hate against Farrell? I thought he was great in Phone Booth & In Bruges, he was doing a great "subtle" performance in The New World (which IS an underrated movie, the director made it way too corny & pretentious in some scenes though but the overall experience was mostly positive for me).

Nah, i think this season of True Detective is gonna work out fine. The height difference between Farrell & Vaughn is pretty massive though, i think Colin is like 5'10 which obviously is average but Vaughn is a giant..
