Honestly even if everything in this thread were fake, I don't think I could ever see fame the same way again just off the strength of seeing what it's done to people, and the amount of clout that these successful people have and STILL have the need for more. So it absolutely wouldn't surprise me if there's darker forces at play, all they'd have to do is dangle some riches in front of a lot of people and they've got them roped in. Follow the money far enough and things start to look murky.
People will sell their soul for riches, and then wonder why riches can't save your soul. You hate to see it. If anything, it just makes me realize how crucial gratitude is. What's the point of all of that if it comes at such a terrible price? I could find happiness for much less.
