His exact comment was “400 years? That sounds like a choice.” He went on to explain that he was talking about mental enslavement. His approach was definitely wrong and he didn’t add context, but a lot of us are choosing to be mentally enslaved because it’s more “comfortable.”
If anything, I took more issue with him bringing up “black on black” crime. That’s not something you bring up in front of a white audience.

First off, I wouldn’t be screaming anything. I may choose not to support something on my own, but I’m not gonna dictate to other people what they should do. Second, it’s not a white person’s place to speak on any black issues. Third, I never said I agreed with Kanye c00ning. I was simply putting it in context. Like dude said and what we all know, he wasn’t always like that.
I’ve always theorized that Kanye has been searching for that white validation since he lost the Grammy for Best New Artist and Album of the Year back in 2005. Each year, he would try to come with something better/more mainstream. Reminds me of how Michael Jackson received just two nominations for “Off the Wall” so he vowed his next album would be undeniable. I think that’s what Kanye was chasing after being “denied” on College Dropout. I even remember when he did “Graduation” he said he didn’t include skits because he wanted to be taken more seriously as an artist. However, for the third straight year, he didn’t win the “big” award. The fashion shyt was just another obstacle.
