Unless there's a major Windows fall-off, Linux won't really be used on the normal user side (unless you count Android).

Too many apps are tied to specific builds of Windows, let alone Windows itself. It would cost tens of billions of dollars over time in re-writing source code, migration, re-training, and re-deployment to migrate away from Windows to Linux. It's not gonna happen.

It's better on the admin side.

It's been awhile since I've used Linux, I used to have a dual boot setup (I was a nerd's nerd), but if the usability of the OS hasn't declined, it's probably because of the ubiquity of Windows. The learning curve to use a new OS can be years.

boot up -> login screen -> desktop

years is an extreme exaggeration. most apps are cross platform or web-based so you'd only need a web browser which are typically cross platform these days anyway.

Your average user is not going to spend them time to learn. I remember when moving people from Windows 8 to 10 and to 11 being a complete headache just because it looks different. We use Linux servers but its all CLI so we dont even interact with the GUI.

Fair. But there's a reason companies don't replace ERP's everytime a competitor adds a bell or a whistle. Same thing applies here because the OS is so intricately tied to what will ultimately be the chassis for their business.

What the hell software they gonna use with it? There's a reason why the shyt is so secure because it doesn't have a very large user base.

This sounds ridiculous.

Every serious technology and finance company (including Microsoft) uses it heavily. A number of companies use or support Apple laptops and desktops. Companies use VMware, built on a linux kernel...and so on.

Mid-tier companies and below use Windows for the same reason they use Cisco for networking. Usability and familiarity.
