I like to understand stuff. I like to understand why stuff is happening and what made it happen. I like to understand why stuff is happening, what made it happen and how it came to happen, based off of past understandings or in the least, an explanation. Movies don't really give you an explanation for shyt and often leaves you to "Interpret" whatever transpired based off of your understanding. That's why people often rewatch movies after the credits so they can pick up pieces, Easter eggs, dialogue and actions that didn't make sense before "All" is revealed but do now that the twist has been presented.
I really don't get this movie and I really wanted to as a black man since the first half of this movie, Race and identity definitely takes a front seat in the proceedings of this film until you realize there's something bigger at stake. Something bigger than what's happening to the characters. The abuse they receive and the conditions that they are take on an overtly malicious air to the point you'd believe that this is only happening because they are black and in a sense, it is. However, as the film progresses and more is known as to not only what's happening, but why it's happening, you are still left to wonder about the other people around this situation; Do they know? Was this deliberate? Eh.
Nice acting by both characters, but then again I'm never one to spend time 'discerning' roles since all both actors needed to be was black, African and scared, which they both were because they are two out of the three. This movie, as much as I wanted to like it didn't scare, or intrigue me. It just made me wonder outloud, as to the "What" and "Why" of everything that happened and will prolly happen after. Plus Eh.
