It seemed pretty obvious that Max harbored some borderline
feelings toward Noodles, confirmed by the fact that he would only have sex with women that Noodles had sex with first and even the whole thing of wanting him [Noodles] to be the one to kill him.
The rape scene threw me off cause that shyt was random. I was kind of expecting Noodles to try and make a move on her but I did not think he would go that far. And why tf was the driver acting all disgusted at the end when he didn't even stop the car or pull over while it was happening and try to stop it
?
I see a couple people examining the motive of Noodles doing that online but it didn't seem vague at all. He always wanted her but he couldn't have her. She had a thing for him but she refused to accept his lifestyle (embodied by Max, whom she teasingly called his 'Mama' and had the significance of expressing how he was like the first woman or only woman in his life that mattered), nor would she compromise on her dreams, so all she would do at best is tease him and maybe spend a little time alone with him on occasion. Her kissing him while he was already drunk pushed him over the edge, which wasn't even hard to begin with because he was facing the reality that he'd probably never have her nor would he ever likely see her again. Her having an affair with Max was clearly her way of getting back at him and also keeping some trace of Noodles close to her in some form, the same way Max would. Both hers and Max's feelings for Noodles is even furth Wer made obvious by the fact that their child was named after him. Deborah was really on some Stockholm-type shyt.
I'm not even gonna get into the garbage truck scene and if that was really Max cuz that whole scene was
to begin with.
