a classic tale with a modern update of opulence and racism throw in. A nice matinee when it ends on Starz six months from now, but I wouldn't worry about till then. 6/10

Selma Blair character acting is the only good thing in this movie. Tom Welling doesn't deserve the push and Maggie Grace's limited acting range outweighs her short lingerie scene. I don't what the original was like but they should kept Selma Blair scenes and cut everything else out. 4/10

Mirroring my thoughts from the Horror Thread:

Terrifier 2 was a great watch and much better than the initial entry (which wasn’t that hard to do, but still). The thing that makes Art so interesting to me is that he’s quiet like a Jason/Michael, yet his quirks bring out his personality in a big way ala Freddy/Pennywise. Film dives a little into his backstory, but nothing outrageous enough to completely void his mystique.

They did a good job of balancing dark humor in the kills and some instances that just make you feel :merchant: . The humor was actually needed with how fukked up things got. Art is fukkin’ GIDDY from the set-up of his kills and through the execution of them. :dead:

The articles about test audiences puking/passing out due to the gore made me want to go see this even more. :wow: It has A LOT of gore, but I think I’m just desensitized to all of the horrid things I’ve seen at this point, lol. That being said, I’m still looking sideways at parents bringing their little ones into this.

I can’t fault anyone for classifying this as torture porn, the lows definitely get low. I had plenty of fun with it though, especially seeing another horror flick make excellent usage of practical effects. Art the Clown got the slasher throne claimed this year. Can’t wait to see what Leone got up his sleeve next.

The 🏝️ Of Relevancy
I like when movies give a call back to lines or scenes or sometimes plots from previous movies...
Urban legend 3 ended with bloody Mary, something mentioned in the first movie

Cube trilogy was okay, like how the last movie was a prequel and has similarities with the mentally challenged character from the first one

Hellraiser was all over the place, same as wishmsster but was okay.

Now on to Dollman, Demonic Toys, and Dollman vs Demonic Toys

Gave this one a watch after seeing it recommended next to Speak No Evil. This was way better. Very haunting and effective film. You know you’re onto something when you have even Kubrick shook.

Liked the way the film dove deep into the killer’s daily routine, even his failed attempts, and the boiling obsession from Rex over Saskia’s abduction that eventually reaches its breaking point.

Felt the ending would’ve been even more effective if it had cut from Rex passing out from those sleeping pills and directly into the scene of him waking up in the coffin, realizing he’s being buried alive. Didn’t need to see the killer shoveling dirt in between.

Dug the consistency in tone. Knew ten seconds into it that this was going to finish on a dark note. I’m pretty sure the ending as is would’ve hit me harder than it did if I wasn’t already recovering from Speak No Evil’s absurdity. :pachaha:The Vanishing feels way more realistic in what it tries to pull off.

Just finished watching this. And damn, it was infuriating at times.

ended up disliking sara by the end
I dunno

Maybe I'm getting older, but I kind of liked how Sara didn’t become a cold blooded killer after all that trauma.

....even if she did body the killer

Yea, that's why I couldn't hate her entirely, but almost everything else that happened throughout the movie contributed to my dislike of her character in the end.
