I have a few issues of the Black Sands comic in my personal library. They have beautiful artwork and tell an interesting story about ancient Egyptian characters going up against extraterrestrial gods and monsters. So they undeniably have some good products to sell.

That said, Manuel Godoy, the man behind the whole enterprise, has a ridiculously inflated ego. He wastes a lot of energy mocking and deriding any of his critics, even constructive ones. Most recently, I've seen him call a female critic a "bed wench" (a slur traditionally used against African-American women in interracial relationships) and go out of his way to slander her and mischaracterize her criticisms. She has a whole video on the conflict here on Youtube. I've been, at the very least, uneasy about supporting him ever since.
