WATCH: Jaro Media Unveils First Teaser For Alonge Hawes’s Original Series ‘Silver & Gold’

Following the unveiling of the official poster art and synopsis for Silver & Gold, Jaro Media has now shared the first visual presentation in the form of a teaser for the upcoming Alonge Hawes created series.

Lensed by series cinematographer Joshua Dennard, the 40 second clip, titled “After The Dance”, introduces the leading characters of Charles Goldar (Quentin Williams) and Bahiya Payne (Brittaney Traylor) as they enjoy drinks at a swanky nightclub. Unbeknownst to two unlucky patrons, Charles and Bahiya’s tab is paid for on their dimes. The couple then can be seen sensually dancing the night away. Check out the teaser below!

While little in the means of plot or story arc are revealed, what can be discerned is the intense romantic chemistry shared between the two characters, as well as their affinity for pickpocketing!

Silver & Gold will premiere this Fall on Jaro Media. It is directed, written, and executive produced by Hawes through his company A Million Stories One Pen Productions. Jamal McClendon, Cordarol Sanders, Shani Hawes, Joshua Dennard, Quentin Williams, and Rodderick Fedd serve as producers.

Jaro Media provides on-demand streaming access to a world of African American and Afrocentric digital media including video, visual arts, books, and music. Jaro’s unique platform integrates social media, customer control, and media access into an innovative user experience.

The curtain continues to peel back as Jaro Media’s promotional campaign for their Alonge Hawes helmed series Silver & Gold seems to be in full swing! On the heels of last week’s official unveiling of the series’ first teaser, a new character introduction visual has been released.
While the previous teaser featured series leads Charles Goldar (Quentin Williams) and Bahiya Payne (Brittaney Traylor) pickpocketing clueless club goers and partying the night away, this new visual features actor Julian Robinson. Robinson was previously announced as having joined the cast of the series in April of this year, but no further details were provided. By the description of the teaser it seems we now have a character name, Aiyden Booker.

Once again lensed by series cinematographer Joshua Dennard, the 30 second clip titled “High Off Life” shows Aiyden amongst a room full of smoke. As the camera zooms out to reveal Aiyden’s surroundings, it becomes pretty clear what’s creating such a… hazy environment! Check out the teaser below!

The promotional run for the upcoming Alonge Hawes created series Silver & Gold is continuing at rapid pace! Following character introduction teasers for actors Quentin Williams (as Charles Goldar) Brittaney Traylor (as Bahiya Payne) and Julian Robinson (as Aiyden Booker) the latest visual teaser for the hotly anticipated series introduces Shani Hawes as the previously announced Cierra Valentine.
The series synopsis describes Valentine as an “eccentric computer genius”, and though the 36 second clip, titled “Hacker’s Paradise”, does indeed show Hawes’s Valentine surrounded by computers and laptops, it seems to be her gaming device that has momentarily stolen her attention. Check out the teaser below.

Shani Hawes is no stranger to the small screen, having previously co-starred and produced on her brother’s previous digital series Black On Both Sides and Blue Collar Hustle. She was bestowed Best Actress honors by The Virgin Spring Cinefest in 2018 for her role as Asha in the latter series.

The newest series from Alonge Hawes seems to have a rather eclectic cast of characters. A string of what has been billed as “character introduction teasers” have slowly lifted the curtain on what we can expect from the upcoming caper series. Following the introductions of sexy, swindling couple Charles Goldar (Quentin Williams) & Bahiya Payne (Brittaney Traylor), laid back smoker Aiyden Booker (Julian Robinson) and Happy-Go-Lucky gamer/hacker Cierra Valentine (Shani Hawes), the latest character visual introduces us to Sosa Gerena, played by Roberto Cruz Jr.
The 40 second clip, titled “Renegade Czar,” shows Cruz’s Gerena sitting in a room apparently holding court amongst a group of standing subordinates; adding an air of seriousness and gravitas that hadn’t been present in the more lighthearted teasers proceeding it. Check out the clip below.

Roberto Cruz Jr, a frequent collaborator of Hawes’s, previously starred and produced on Hawes’s debut digital series Blue Collar Hustle and co-starred in the digital series Black On Both Sides. Cruz Jr. was bestowed an Award Of Merit from The Southern Shorts Film Awards in 2017 for his production work on Blue Collar Hustle’s first season. Cruz Jr. is repped by Sourgang Entertainment.

Silver & Gold will premiere this Fall on Jaro Media. It is created, directed, written, and executive produced by Hawes through his company A Million Stories One Pen Productions. Jamal McClendon, Cordarol Sanders, Shani Hawes, Joshua Dennard, Quentin Williams, and Rodderick Fedd serve as producers.

Jaro Media’s upcoming series Silver & Gold has steadily let potential fans and viewers into its world. Poster art, an official synopsis, and previous teasers have introduced us to a diverse cast of characters including the leading protagonists whom the series, described as a “caper” by Jaro Media executives, will follow. It seems, however, that Jaro has saved the most intriguing for last.
In a surprising (though not particularly shocking) revelation, series creator & director Alonge Hawes appears in the newest and final teaser visual as a character named Ramses Coltrane. The 34 second clip, titled “Revolutionary Warfare”, sees Hawes’s character, dressed in Ghanian styled clothing, holding what appears to be a Katana sword and standing amongst a group of black conglomerates who are all dressed in dashikis. Amongst the group is actor Joshua Quinn, who was previously announced as co-starring in the series in an unknown role. Check out the teaser below.

Though Hawes was not previously linked to Silver & Gold in an acting capacity, he played leading roles in his previous digital series Blue Collar Hustle and Black On Both Sides. Hawes was named Best Actor in 2020 by the L.A Shorts Awards for his work as Anansi Moor in Black On Both Sides‘ first season.

Alonge Hawes is looking to capitalize on a busy 2022 by premiering not one, but two original series at the upcoming 6th annual Minnesota Webfest; continuing a fruitful relationship of collaboration between the critically acclaimed auteur and the prestigious festival.
The first series ‘Silver & Gold’ is described as “A blend of comedy, action, drama, and Afro-futurism set against the backdrop of Atlanta’s criminal underground.” The first season will consist of ten episodes, with Hawes serving as director and writer for the entire project. The series will be available via Jaro Media in Fall of this year. Quentin Williams, Brittaney Traylor, Roberto Cruz Jr, and Shani Hawes make up the ensemble cast. Hawes executive produces alongside Rich DeVaughn. Jamal McClendon, Cordarol Sanders, Quentin Williams, Shani Hawes, Joshua Dennard, and Rodderick Fedd serve as producers.

The second series, ‘Good Black Man,’ is described as “The journey of a man who is attempting to put his life back together after a series of unfortunate events; whilst raising his daughter and attempting to avoid falling into the negative stereotypes commonly associated with black men in modern society.” While no release date nor platform were announced for the series as of press time, Hawes will again serve as executive producer, writer and director of all episodes.
Joshua Dennard, Jamal McClendon, Shani Hawes, Rodderick Fedd and Cordarol Sanders serve as producers. The official series poster and teaser can be seen below.

The history between Alonge Hawes and the Minnesota Webfest runs deep. Hawes has received 11 award nominations over the festival’s five-year history, winning 2, including Best Representation For Communities Of Color at the inaugural ceremony for his debut series ‘Blue Collar Hustle’ and Best Returning Series, for Blue Collar Hustle’s second season one year later.
Hawes was also the keynote speaker at the festival’s 2019 edition, where his sophomore series ‘Black On Both Sides’ also made its world premiere.
The Minnesota Webfest was founded by George Reese in 2017 as the first film festival dedicated to the web and digital series format. As a member of the Web Series World Cup, the festival has joined forces with two other industry film festivals–Catalyst Stories and the Duluth Superior Film Festival–to bring a week of networking, education, and entertainment extending from the web series to film and independent television. The Minnesota Webfest takes place September 26-28th in Duluth, Minnesota.

Following July’s announcement that Alonge Hawes would premiere two brand new digital series at the 6th annual Minnesota Webfest, the festival has announced that Hawes has garnered 4 nominations at the upcoming event. The upcoming Jaro original series ‘Silver & Gold’ has garnered nominations in the writing and genre series categories as has the original series ‘Good Black Man.’
‘Silver & Gold’ is nominated for Best Series Script and Best Thriller/Horror Series. ‘Good Black Man’ also picked up a Best Series Script nom (pairing Hawes against himself and four other nominees) as well as a nod for Best Dramatic Series. Hawes is no stranger to the Minnesota Webfest, having been nominated 11 times previously and winning twice. He won Best Representation Of Communities Of Color at the inaugural ceremony in 2017 for the first season of his digital series ‘Blue Collar Hustle.’ He also took home the award for Best Returning Series for Blue Collar Hustle’s second season. The nominations at the upcoming festival gives Hawes the distinction of being the first person to have two separate projects nominated in the writing category.

I shouted the Coli and @Art Barr out in my first series Blue Collar Hustle.

I may do another little nod in my upcoming shows. A full on parody series would have great potential but i’m probably not the one to make it as my strengths lay with Drama not necessarily comedy

After many months which saw the platform hype the project with a series of visual teasers, posters, and stills, Jaro Media has finally announced the official release date for their first platform branded original series ‘Silver & Gold’. The Alonge Hawes created digital series will premiere with a special two episode launch on Tuesday, October 11th at 8pm on both the Jaro website as well as Jaro’s dedicated Roku channel.
While there was some discussion on whether the series would air weekly or follow the Netflix model and release the entire season at once, it seems Hawes and Jaro have elected for the former, as ‘Silver & Gold’ will air episodes every week on Tuesdays. In celebration of the release announcement, Jaro has provided the episode titles alongside the official synopsis:

“Charles Goldar and Bahiya Payne are the smoothest, sexiest, and perhaps the most industrious thieves this side of Bonnie & Clyde. There is no gem too guarded, no diamond too secure, or no amount of cash too vaulted for these two paramours to relieve from their unfortunate marks. So, when they decide to team up with eccentric computer genius Cierra Valentine and stoic con man Sosa Gerena in attempts to pull off bigger and more daring heists, it seems to be a match made in bandit’s heaven. But all is not as it seems, as the sins of the past slowly begin to ransack the riches of the present; leading the group down a path of violence and vengeance amidst Atlanta’s criminal underground. When Charles and Bahiya are faced with a reckoning beyond even their own comprehension, they will come to the realization that sometimes love IS the crime…”
