Some food for thought. Apparently the speaker is compromised by ties to the Israeli government and has been for some time. Things start to make more sense when you look at it in the lens that trump being installed was the end of a coup as opposed to the start of one.

I believe there are private newspapers but recently the Kremlin has control of what's published and even social media accounts are heavily monitored, this happened fairly recently
