I don't disagree with you, and I definitely don't think Trump is charming. He obviously has something though, pause, that appeals to the worst part of the US (super CACs) so I can't say he doesn't have charisma. Semantics, perchance? :manny:

Locking colored people in cells is not a new phenomenon for white people. Threatening violence against non whites is not courageous.

The president is not the problem. His constituents are a huge problem.

I'll get hate for this but we need a sensible white male to take on Trump. If Democrats pick any other choice the only thing stopping a trump reelection is if he falls to someone else at primary time. It's not right but we gotta play our cards right and many voters don't care about details. Independents might dislike trump but they won't vote for warren. See how that works? Beto/Biden or bust.

Independents will decide all this shyt. Everybody else already has their minds made up. And independents vote!

Jay Inslee checks off a lot of boxes for progressives and Dems, and has stood up to Cheeto to his face. It’s a shame he’s not getting more attention.

i think a good compromise is to relentlessly harass and subpoena his money. simple explanation, "we need to find out why russia wanted him to win. trump or the republicans are welcome to explain that to america at any time"

Racism created Donald Trump. There's plenty of data to show this.
Amongst other things, yes. And the politics of the past was racist. The previous administration - that he's running on being a third term of - failed to address systemic racism in any meaningful manner, instead choosing to prioritize the demands of neoliberal capital. The idea that Joe Biden is going to bring about true racial justice is laughable. Look at what happened to black-white wealth disparity throughout the recession and the "recovery" if you want a vision of a Biden/non-progressive administration's response to systemic racism. Lots of speeches, yet capitulation when rubber hits the road. That worldview just won't allow for the systemic changes necessary because they fundamentally believe the system is sound, and just needs a few tweaks here and there. So until we can come to terms with the fact that that worldview, and the previous administration that exemplified it, is an abject failure - the proof of which is what followed in its footsteps - then we're not going to be able to have the honest discussion needed to bring forth a more just, hospitable society.

You supported Trump the last election...

:sas2:
I supported the candidate that most displayed revolutionary potential. There is no AOC, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, President Warren or Sanders, progressive wave in the other timeline. The other timeline is a slow death.

Can you really say this now, seeing how good Trump's presidency has been for wealthy businessmen? :bpgucci:
I can say this now seeing as we're witnessing the best chance for real progressive politics to take hold in generations. Trump's incompetence has ensured that whatever "gains" he's made aren't yet irreversible or fatal.

The question at the heart of this is: would you trade AOC, Omar, Tlaib, Porter, Liz, Bernie and the progressive wave for no Trump?

Voting for Trump did not move this country left or drum up a progressive wave of politicians taking office.

And any progressive or forward thinking policy you want will be knee capped in the courts worse than Obamacare thanks to conservative court packing.

Ah the Sarah Sarandon theory. Only thing is it leaves out the people who have had to suffer under this administration unnecessarily.

The idea that the energy needed for the progressive movement to boil over had nothing to do with the failure of the neoliberal consensus seems like a centrist fantasy. Most of the organizations that literally got these progressives elected were formed in the aftermath of the election. But if after all this time you still believe an even more emboldened and validated Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer under President Clinton would willingly midwife a progressive movement, I don't think we'll find agreement on this matter. They hate Omar more than they hate Republicans.

Supreme Court reformation in structure and role is an inevitable facet of progressive politics.
