That's why you have congressional hearings on it. thats why you bring in Barr, Rosenstein, Mueller, Trump Jr, etc. You don't take it off the table without having read the report like Hoyer did.

I'd love to see that orange fukk thrown out of office, but realistically, there aren't 20 republican senators who are going to vote yes to impeaching Cheeto. I've said multiple times, Democrats can vote to impeach daily from now until 2021, but it won't do shyt if the Senate can't/won't convict. Best plan of action is to lay everything on the table in hearings to build up a case so that in the event he wins reelection, they have a better shot of impeaching. Keep in mind the 2020 senate map is much more favorable to Dems than the 2018 map.

What happened to the republicans in 97 when they moved to impeach Clinton for far less egregious transgressions? I believe the Republicans kept control of Congress and won the next 2 presidential elections.

The democrats don’t really lose anything by impeaching. Best case, they win, or block his agenda for the next 2 years while making it super hard to campaign. He can’t hold rally’s and yell build the wall while he’s prepping for being tried in the senate.

What’s the worst case? They can’t convict. Then a bunch of people who were never going to vote for Dems continue to not vote for Democrats.

And the democrats get to show the republicans that they no longer give a fukk about norms and that they are also willing to play the escalation game. Which should act as a better check than the general hand wringing they do.
