Cody was always my least favorite part of the Dub, but I fukkin loved the feud him and Dustin had with the Shield before the Stardust shyt, I honestly thought that was going to propel him in main event level in the E. I'm happy for him and glad he's came so far, but still couldn't care less about him at this point, even without his awful wife.

I thought Cody was a decent mudcarder in his first run, and thought him acting like a big deal on the indies was a joke, until the first 6 months of AEW.
His promos, presentation, and storyline ideas that were clearly his in the Jericho and MJF feuds were GREAT and he was doing some of the best stuff in the last 5 years if wrestling for that 6 months.
Then COVID hit, and the rest of his AEW run was hit and miss, but that first 6 month run showed me he had at least the potential to be what he is now.

But they made the right decision not making WM39 that day
And ftr I didn’t like Cody AT ALL when he was in AEW. Still think he was a damn fool for not only not booking himself to win the AEW world title but booking himself out of EVER winning it
He should have been the one to dethrone Y2J then eventually drop it to Mox.
Far as now tho, this is a golden opportunity for them to make SummerSlam almost as big as Wrestlemania if they plan on making Cody the one to win it.
