Call of Duty’s Lead Platform Switching to PS4; Digital Game Sales Higher than Xbox One’s According to Insider

The Call of Duty franchise has been associated with the Xbox brand for quite a while, but something may be changing, as gathered by industry insider Pete “Famousmortimer” Dodd, that normally has a good track record with what his industry sources share with him. To provide an example, he was the one that first mentioned the difference in resolution of Call of Duty: Ghosts between PS4 and Xbox One.

This morning Dodd posted on NeoGaf something quite interesting:
I’m not ready to jump on the XB1 is doomed train yet. Titanfall, or really any game, can turn the fortunes, but as of now – yes, good start but valid concerns. The PS4 is above and beyond all projections and publishers are re-calibrating to this. I heard that Activision is going to make a public announcement about COD changing to the PS4 as lead platform. I have no idea if this means DLC (I assume MS locked that down for multiple years) but COD was a XBOX 360 game that happened to be on the ps3 last gen. That will be a hugely symbolic move… and don’t discount what that means to the masses.

That’s actually quite believable, especially considering how Activision seems to be very favorable to Sony’s consoles with Destiny and its very much advertised early access to the beta for PlayStation players. Activision and Electronic Arts seem to have somewhat switched allegiance between the latest generation and the new one.

The next Call of Duty was also allegedly showcased at Destination PlayStation, which definitely seems to match a possible switch.

In addition to that (and talking about interesting changes from the old generation) Dodd also mentioned that PS4 is selling more than Xbox One on the digital games from.

Also, don’t sleep on inFamous. It will be very, very, close to Titanfall XB1 this month. Sony is also doing far more digital sales than MS so far (which is a weird switch from the middle of last gen).

That’s actually quite intriguing, since we normally don’t get much information on digital download sales, it’s also not too surprising considering the rather relevant difference in installed base between the two consoles.

Of course, like all information coming from insiders and not confirmed by official announcements, we should take it with a grain of salt, and we can only wait and see if Activision’s announcement will really happen, possibly at E3.

So now you are hyped that a game you hate, might be made on your system first :wtf:
Ok, so nikkaz is furious that Titanfall and its creators are buddy buddy with M$ :bryan:

But can I point out some inconsistencies with your link?

COD was showcased at sony during E3, didn't mean shyt first off :usure:

Sony always had more digital sales for retail games, dualshockers is making it seem like this is something new :bryan:
And if they are referring to XBLA titles on XB1 vs PS4, well the XB1 store isn't even up to snuff yet
There isn't much to buy at this point. So even that angle is straight up PR talk :snoop:

Grain of salt.. shyt, they can have that game :mjlol:
We got BF4 lead platform on Direct X.11 aka Xbox One
We got Titanfall creators talking about how Titanfall couldn't be done without the cloud (neogaf has a thread on it)

You know what, I'm gonna hop on Titanfall right now. Have fun with this bullshyt...

Ok so let's hope Activision can create a brand new game engine to max out those ps4 capabilities... I might consider buying it again plus a good ass campaign story...

:interesting:
They didn't think a bunch of bullshyt arcade titles was that important.
While sony didn't have any games, and gave away titles like Don't Starve :bryan:
I wouldn't be surprised if sony counted those as games sold since you have to buy PS+ :heh:

What are the games that sold so well anyway.. always a mystery with these dudes.

COD needs to figure something out, because Ghosts is not doing well. I was just looking at Steam's most played games, and it's behind BO2 and MW3

Game will still sell the most on the Xbox One because of the competitive scene. Game needs a make over...badly.
