Great analysis.

On the previous Peyton interception play, you said Peyton made the right call but the ball was still intercepted. I didn't see that part of the game but what options does a QB have in that situation, in your best estimation?
it was a right coverage read, but not a good decision. thats the thing. he tried to fit a pass in a tight window. I dont know, the best options would probably try to safely dump it to welker (it probably wouldve been defended tho) or throw it away or take a sack. it was a dangerous throw that he paid for.

thats always the problem with timing routes, also. theyre only great when everything perfect. a slight hold from seattle and timing is disrupted. pressure on peyton also had to play a huge role

here's 3rd and 5 conversion from seattle for 35 yards, right after the flea flicker failed
this is why seattles D is so much better than broncos D, lol. also shows russ progressions

simple play here, crossing routes on the left with baldwin going underneath and up the field. the first option is actually on the top of the screen.
broncos show man coverage and have some kind of hybrid where they stay in man but if RB comes out for outlet pass the LBs take the underneath route

hIZHrw6.png

what happens on the play: russ looks at his first option and its covered with safety help. the corner on the top will smartly cover marshawn and leave the wr underneath to LB. the right side is actually covered extremely well. from this picture looks like nothing is open at all

LMPlVBQ.png

split second later russ sees the crossing route do its work and baldwin getting separation from his man on the left. safety is deep and while it recognizes the coverage mishap, its too late and out of position. russ launches a perfect anticipation throw, knowing baldwin will beat his man. the throw hits baldwin in stride and in all honestly, its a great touch throw.

whats your excuse for all those other big game busts? peyton is trash

You're totally wrong. I hate Peyton and he's a complete fakkit, but that game smelled weird to me. I'll be the first to proclaim how gorgeous n/h Brady is and how much of a choking fraudster fakkit peyton is.

if seattle knew all the signals theyd have a touchdown on first play, not a safety :troll:

those intermediate crossing routes to the peytons left were effective. wished they couldve cashed in. mightve forced thomas to favor that side of the field - then those seams wouldve started hitting :banderas:

every defensice player thinks they got the signals. seattle played well, but a clear indication of them knowing the play wouldve been more jumping routes and picks. peyton had a completed 69% :yeshrug:

I wouldnt consider that completion % anything. game was over after 29-0 and you cant jump short ass passes. in general, also, seattle is so disciplined they actually jump passes very rarely. they dont need to gamble because their coverage is immaculate.

i font have his first half completion stats in front of me but im willing to bet theyre right on par with the game as a whole. Seattle had the gameplan and more importantly in this case - the talent to capitalize. i haven't heard analysis of what peyton could've done that differently besides become favre slinging it 40 yards down field for laughs

but he kinda did- after game was effectively over. he even tried the same fade throw on sherman to DT kaep was shytted on, I think just for shyts and giggles and maybe have a minor victory.

peyton didnt have awful reads, but he made bad decisions. he trusted his reads too much imo. the second pick (pick 6) was a back breaker. yes, the RT was awful on the play, but peyton shouldnt ever even thrown that seeing his tackle gets demolished and ready to tip the pass, in the first place

considering the coverage, there are only a few options you're realistically going to make. i don't know where the other receivers were on the pick 6, but a dump off to his rb seems somewhat safe.

you got me itching to review to tape if it wasn't so painful :to:

A more athletic Peyton could have made the first man miss and tried to buy some time but he likely would have been sacked anyway. There wasn't much he could do and trying a 1v1 with Thomas isn't a bad decision.

this is prolly first flat out bad down for peyton in terms of pass complexity. this is 4th and 2 down 22 pts on the seattle 19 yard line closing out the 2nd quarter

this is a simple playcall that is designed to beat a zone. we'll have a slot WR run a post route and DT run a kind of an out route that goes upfield just a few yards.
broncos have one on one at the top and TE and RB wll be two checkdowns for short yard gain.

C4pcatD.png

result of the play: hags indeed are in a cover 3. TE is open at the 1st down marker. DT is actually open enough to make a good catch on a good thrown the ball. theres tons of protection as hags rush just 4

1VcXAYQ.png

peyton throws a terrible wobbly pass to DT that he cant even catch and broncos turn it over on downs

Play of the game....Peyton predetermined his read. Had the TE wide open underneath open for a 4 yard pickup. 4 Seahawk defenders on that side of the field with 2 receivers
