Above the fray.
And none of that matters if you're a student or a parent paying for your child's education. But that's not exclusive to JSU or any school

What I'm disagreeing you with is this notion that there's some sort of residuals to other schools in HBCU land. What's happening NIL wise at JSU isn't benefitting TX Southern or FAMU. FAMUs apparel deal with Lebron's Nike brand doesn't help Alcorn St or Valley in any way. It will just be a carbon copy of the FBS level. There will be haves and have-nots and the gap will be even wider cause there ain't a Willie Simmons or Vince Dancey segment or documentary on Barstool's network, but there is a Deion one.

Posted links in my first post here about two SWAC deals that came about directly because of the rise of JSU Football. A Pepsi sponsorship for conference football and basketball teams and a broadcasting/streaming agreement with Byron Allen for all SWAC sports.

Also posted a show segment from Roland Martin talking about how school presidents and A.D.s can seize the moment and capitalize on the momentum of top athletes opting to take scholarship offers at HBCUs.

That 5 star hoops recruit choosing Howard started this national attention on HBCU sports. Coach Prime building up JSU has dialed it up to volume 10. The visibility and attention has helped schools in his conference and HBCU sports in general.

I fukk with it. But it does make me a lil sad seeing this and seeing the shyt the regular black students at these HBCU’s gotta deal with :francis:

I get it sports bring money in , but just sad seeing black youth deal with shyt just cause they’re not athletes :francis:

Ain’t mean to make this negative and I’m glad Deion doin this…but after looking at that Howard shyt HBCUs got some shyt to fix before I care about a locker room tbh
I agree but technically you could argue that a top notch football program will help bring money into the school that it wouldn’t normally get

Nah you right this facts. JSU will be great for sure and I’m glad Deion is doing it.

But looking at a Locker Room and then remembering the facilities/housing other HBCUs got students in…idk breh:francis:

And I know the school ain’t connected but makes me sad fr. Like you seen them dirty ass eye wash stations at Howard? That’s the shyt future black researchers gotta deal with, idk man it’s nice tho but I can’t appreciate the locker room knowing that regular black students won’t be taken care of half as well as athletes at PWIs or HBCUs

I get it, sports bring in money…but damn. No rich nikka could build a new lab or some shyt? They ain’t got money for more/better housing?

Nobody’s going out their way to help regular black students like this anywhere…except Bezos’ ex wife :francis:

I guess it’s up to the feds and rich jsu alumni to put the money up
Unless there is a bill Cosby somewhere who will put millions into the school

The Pepsi deal was independent of Deion, i hear he had a hand but… it’s probably more of the North American president being a hbcu alum and seeing a chance to make the company money with key targeted events, they made Deion a brand ambassador, (probably because of his platform) and I’m sure he gets a check he ain’t sharing with jsu. Pepsi in 2020 set out to spend 400 million ( a drop in the bucket, when you make 2 billion every 3 months) over 5 years, how much of that 400 you think the swac got?? they agreed to sponsor the swac football championship for football and the championship tournament for men/womens basketball, and select a student from each swac school for a job, We celebrating crumbs, and propping Deion up and he was not the reason this came to fruition.

i think you all see this and equate some trickle down, ask the other schools in the swac if they can afford to try and keep up with the Jones’s, meanwhile yes it’s a new Locke room, what them dorms, and classrooms, and facilities for the regular students looking like ?? How much will jsu tuition go up for now ??
