the vast majority of reactions on Twitter are excitement and positive, but of course there is a small minority of know-it-all marks crying about him not going to another company:pachaha:

the reality is that grown men have bills to pay. not even a Punk fan, but he's right for getting the most money he can get and that's in WWE not anywhere else :yeshrug:

Punk will probably make seven figures and not even have to take a bump :wow:

You don't think the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham FC wouldn't throw a bigger bag than WWE if they thought it was worth it?

so now he's not worth it all of a sudden just because he didn't go to AEW? :mjlol:despite being the most sought after "free agent" for years?

not saying you in particular are saying that, but that's the sentiment now all of a sudden over the last hour by those who are angry that he showed back up in WWE. months and months of hopes and speculation that Punk would end up elsewhere and he didn't. Punk got that WWE/Fox money :yeshrug:

Fox threw him a bag just to talk about WWE for an hour a week. Can`t hate, that`s easy money. :manny:

GAWdy\Khan should have asked him to do commentary. Then again, maybe they think they don`t need Punk, or shouldn`t bother signing him because they know the fans want to see him wrestle. Not just talk.

Cokeboy to AEW fans right now:

get the feeling that him showing up on Backstage is just the beginning of his eventual return. like opening the door and slowly transitioning into other roles in WWE. likely a very part-time in ring return will happen as well.

if they send him over to NXT on Wednesday nights there will be some SERIOUS meltdowns and anger by some :wow::skip:

restoring the weekly war feelings :blessed:

fukk it.

Send Punk to NXT, throw Beth and Nigel in the bushes, put him with Mauro and let them cook for a couple months. Have Cole jump fly on him at the commentary table a couple time, UE-assisted, etc. Simmer build it a while, UE getting comfortable, and then boom - Anaconda Vise on the floor to Cole. UE breaks it up, beats him down, show ends. Next week Punk leaves the commentary booth, cuts an angry promo in segment one. It'd be a strong-ass angle, and it would force AEW to try and counter-program it, likely to their detriment. Force them to throw a crazy match away on free TV just to go against a man with a microphone. And... I mean. If Punk's gonna do a match back, let him do it against someone Cole's size who can work around him, but also can make Punk look like a threat in a way upon his return after the UFC loses - someone he can physically dominate.

But that's fantasy booking and likely he'll be tossing out Skype-call analysis in a month. Or, they'll use him being there to build some boring feud no one wants between him and Ziggler for his return or something.
