Voted the first two. Haven't listened to a Spice album in damn near two decades. :mjcry:
Was at the record store earlier this week and they didn't have a single Spice album :mjcry:
They did have these though :wow:

Ultimately for me in these discussions, the most weight is on one thing: Public reception.

I think 187 He Wrote is much better than the self-titled version, and I think most who have heard both would agree.
However, the self-title album got MUCH burn. First time I ever heard of Spice 1, I was in the barber shop reading a Jet
magazine...always flipped to the back because it had "The Weeks Best Albums" and "The Weeks Best Singles" in there.
Spice 1 - Spice 1 was number 1 this particular week...mind you, this was over Luther Vandross, Death Certificate,
Mariah Carey's first album,
2Pacalypse Now, Luke, and Public Enemy. As we started hearing the songs, the rep got bigger.

Understand: ask most people what they know about Spice 1 in general, and what would they say?
- he's the East Bay Reggae Gangster
- the stutter flow
- "coolin' on the corner with the cellular phone..."
- he kicked off the brand-naming songs

...all that is from the first album.

I like almost all of Spice's albums more than the first one, but it's the one that got the most reach.
I agree with all of this. But I think Trigga Gots No Heart is probably his most well known song

I always thought this song was hilarious, but also I thought it was very relevant at the time because a lot of cats in the Bay questioned Spice 1's authenticity. He claimed Oakland, but really was from Hayward and some other shyt, too. He addressed it and added some comedy to it. Never heard it questioned again though. That reggae flow always been top notch, too.

Haven't heard one single song he did, except that one song he did with Pac

Any requests for his best 2 or 3 albums?

First 5 that come to my mind are:

187 Proof
Thug in Me
Mo Mail
Peace To My Nine

Money or Murder

But, it is literally impossible to come up with a definitive top-5 for me. Hell a top-20 is impossible. Way too many hits.

I didn't even try to do 5, because I knew I couldn't...but the bolded ones would definitely be on a short list for myself.

Yep.

For all the classic chit MC Eiht did...his biggest song is from that, too.

Soundtracks used to be a big thing in rap. Damn shame...

My favourite to this day is still Murder was the Case

if anyone got a suggestion for a better soundtrack, I'm all ears
:ehh:
