@ISOMELO

from Wikipedia:

Originally a Roc-A-Fella Records compilation album, a showcase for Roc-A-Fella artists such as Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel, Amil and Freeway, which eventually became another Jay-Z solo album (or at least marketed as one to increase sales), although the Roc-A-Fella artists are abundant on this album.

so you aren't wrong per se, but as you see, it seemed to change as official namesake to become a Jay album

funny we can directly compare RD and IWW because of thematic similarities, and RD shyts on it.

Way more focused, more consistent start to finish, more thematically appropriate production,

I actually found IWW to be the more consistent and focused of the two because he whole album plays out like one continuous movie. Definitely the more cinematic of the two

and has more acclaim and respect than IWW and has held up the better of the two.

How can you be so certain of this? It certainly can't be from your typical hip hop message because IWW gets brought up and praised more often than reasonable doubt.

And then when you step out into the real world you'll hear J. Cole talking about how IWW is his all time favorite album.

Same thing with Schoolboy Q.

Lupe Fiasco has even gone on record saying that he wanted his first album to have the same feel as IWW.

These are new nikkas in the rap game from different regions of the country worshiping a 20 year old album for christ's sake. I never see those sort of comments from new rappers praising reasonable doubt.

I think lost tapes should be on the list tbh.

But then that would mean Nas having another classic huh:mjpls:
@Inspect Her Deck
You should have included Lost Tapes just to avoid the appearance of impropriety, which you didn't help by calling Nas "Esco's Trash" in the OP :russ:
Stillmatic is 35 votes away from being called a classic so there is no way that Lost Tapes would have won :yeshrug:
But we will never know for sure now :jawalrus:

This has been the most eye opening of the Classic Discussion threads so far. I think that Illmatic, It Was Written and Stillmatic are CLEAR classics.

I think that Illmatic is the only tier 0 classic in every sense of the word.

IWW is a stellar album though, clearly Nas 2nd best album. If someone else thinks its a classic I wont argue.

I love Stillmatic too, but I cant put it in the same league as IWW, much less Illmatic, thats Hip Hop crown jewel shyt.

Those 3 are Nas best albums though.

I'm a Nas fan. I don't argue my fandom with anyone because I know what I hear when I listen to his music and that is all I care about. As far as I'm concerned, he has 3 classics. Illmatic, IWW and Stillmatic. I don't care what the consensus on this is but to me these 3 are 10/10.
Tier 2 is I am, Godson and lost tapes, these are 8/10.
Distant Relatives,Untitled and LiG 7/10.

All I know is y'all better get IWW above that 80% or I'm calling bullshyt on this whole thing :mjpls:

Is that how this thing works? Purely on percentages? Because if so this whole thing is flawed.

The nas coli classic got the highest voting turnout so far in these coli classic series
:mjpls:

Even has more total votes than some of the other coliclassic threads combined

:sas1:

It was written and stillmatic got twice as many yes votes as scarfaces the diary but apparently they wont make the cut like the diary

Yeah - I don't think there is a way to make the system perfect. :yeshrug:
I mean, Grip It by the Geto Boys is gonna be a coli classic with like 30 votes:francis:
Meanwhile, Stillmatic got 129 votes and isn't gonna be a coli classic :francis:
But on the other hand, The Black Album got 100+ votes and isn't gonna be a classic either :yeshrug:
Percentages are more meaningful than raw numbers :yeshrug:
Would be perfect if we could get the same 174 people who voted on Illmatic to vote in every thread...but that ain't gonna happen :russ:
Me, @Inspect Her Deck and some other posters actually spent a good amount of time thinking this through...and believe it or not, this is the best way to do it until proven otherwise :yeshrug:
