I would much rather have American Gangster up there than have Watch The Throne. It's either AG or neither.

No idea. Get other people to agree with you and I'll see. Being a commercial success doesn't necessarily make something a classic, or else I'd have Lil Wayne up there too

theres way too many albums on this list, this should be a list of 'albums hip hop enthusiasts must listen to':smugfavre:

think about it, there shouldnt be 100s of classics in a genre

anyways props for taking the effort to compile this list....imo 30-50 albums is already more than enuff

Might have to check through my collection see if I'm missing any
of these albums.
Hard drive crashed on me some months back so I know I might have to come
up on some of these again.

i've shortened your list to the follows, which i think are undisputed classics:

Me Against The World
The Low End Theory
Midnight Marauders *
Licensed to Ill
Paul's Boutique
Long Live The Kane
Enta Da Stage
Criminal Minded
By All Means Necessary
Resurrection
3 Feet High and Rising
De La Soul is Dead
No One Can Do It Better
The Chronic
Strictly Business
Paid In Full
Daily Operation
AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
Death Certificate
Power
Reasonable Doubt
Road To Riches
Wanted: Dead or Alive
Radio
The Infamous
Illmatic
Straight Outta Compton
Southernplaylisticadillacmuzik
ATLiens
Aquemini *
Mecca and the Soul Brother
The Main Ingredient *
It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Fear of a Black Planet
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...
Run-D.M.C.
Raising Hell
The Great Adventures of Slick Rick
Doggystyle
Ready to Die
Do You Want More?!!!??!
36 Chambers
Liquid Swords
The Diary

the other albums imo should be classified as just simply 'very solid albums'. joints like illadelph halflife, midnight mauraders, main ingredient are maybe even iller than their predeccessors overall but they're not as groundbreaking and imo fall into this category. illadelph halflife and main ingredient for example, though very good albums throughout, didnt have that 'killer joint' that represents the rapper/group which they had on previous albums

ATLiens on the other hand has a whole different sound compared to their debut so this is one of the occasions that i think would count as a classic in its own right

then you got the underground classics like deltron 3030, madvillany, etc but these are not the type of albums you'd introduce to a new head

just my two cents, the definition of 'classic' is always gona be debatable but i just shortened the list to what i think most heads could agree on
