They keep putting this shyt in English man, Im not watching till they come out with the Portuguese version

You have to adjust the audio settings. Max should fix it so that the app remembers the audio and subtitle settings for each movie/show that you watch.

Thought the way they ended the ZeroOnze character was silly but they did a good job showing that Bradock will never be the leader he wants to be because he ain't got a family.

Nah I figured it out. HBOmax won’t let you change language settings on the computer for some reason. It works when you’re watching on TV. And yeah the end of ZeroOnze’s story was lazy writing. Dude was a seasoned vet in the trenches he would’ve known he wasn’t gonna get rewarded for lining his old boss

Ya’ll gotta watch this in original portuguese brehs. makes a world of difference.
Yeah, it "feels" way more authentic when watching with Portuguese audio and English/Spanish subtitles. I tried the English audio for the 1st episode, but found a lot of nuance lost in translation from Portuguese to English subs. The difference is very noticeable to the better experience.

So far, I like how this season is progressing. Some interesting plot choices in this past episode, but I'll discuss later this week, so as not to spoil anything for anyone.

Yeah, can't miss out on Rafael Lozano's over the top yelling :dead: Every time he shows up I see unhinged Marco Alvarez from 3%

Great episode. The preview for next week got a lot of potential.

RIP Stringy. One of the originals from the movie. Pour out a cold cerveja for him. He waited for Berenice to calm down and cross over to Rocket. She froze up at the exact wrong time, but understandable. Always putting everyone before him and his safety. He was a real one. Berenice will step into Stringy's place.

Jerusa shady ass won't make it out of the next episode. Rocket's photo gonna shut down that political campaign, tie her to the police, the politician and Bradock, and she won't be able to hide from Bradock when he sees it. Bradock will realize that the police know of his hideout spots and change up locations with his boy.

(Complete speculation) Curio's son will probably end him. He was completely missing from this episode, and he's not letting his murder's go.

City of God will City of God.

I hate when they kill off good characters. RIP Rocket’s right hand man. Life in the Brazilian slums ain’t worth shyt it apparently. I like the contrast that the shows portrays between the residents of the slum who try to do good and uplift their community, the gangsters, the police, and the politicians.

I visited favelas a long while back (20+ years ago). Once in Rio (Rocinha) and once in Salvador da Bahia. Life ain't easy at all there. Been to numerous projects in Brooklyn. This is a different beast. The navigation required to just live in peace, or in my case just walk around on the outskirts, grab a beer and eat something....

Thankfully, I didn't run into any police and hit squads like that. Just some minor pressure attempts being applied by the local dudes (in Portuguese) while we were walking and checking things out. A level-headed dude came and told dudes to leave us alone. We left right after that.

It's crazy how they've done a good job of humanizing the folks who live there and are trying to keep themselves and the kids out of the fukkery.

The story takes place around the time you went. Early 00s.
