Christopher Rufo is a A1 threat to black people and it's time people understand this. He's a white supremacist mastermind influencing Ron DeSantis

nikka are you dense??

I said NO.

"if are own kids are behind why do you want them to learn history suited to make white children feel better from white supremacist?"

nikka, I have been saying the opposite!!!
Since the school system is not going to teach true history I have been saying the materials and books are out there (many of them FREE), so we can teach our own children what the school system is NOT!!!

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU nikkaS!!!
WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!!!
supplementary education is not the same as foundational education

Gilder Lehrman has some great free materials on U.S. history.
For those who are worried about history being "erased", it's not going to be possible.

Florida and Texas buy the most text books and lead the influence of what textbooks are adopted NATIONALLY because of the economics of scale.

What are you talking about? :gucci:

If someone sat you and Rufo down for a discussion on a streaming platform, how would you tackle his talking points?

:jbhmm:
Cut directly to why he wants to defund public schools. He's doing this for a grand political project to revamp schools into some christian theocratic racist bullshyt.

You’re absolutely right and I’m not disagreeing with any of it. But at some point we gotta stop asking and start taking and that can only happen from within

How does highlighting the Chris Rufos of the world and the goals those people are actively trying to make into reality prevent us from "taking"? And taking what exactly?

Not coming at you specifically, but I'm of the opinion that we can walk and chew gum at the same time. Calling out these people and the danger they pose to black progress doesn't keep us from doing whatever it is we should be doing to continue making progress. If anything, doing this is one of the things we need to be doing to make sure we can continue to make progress.

I'm proving that you can get the materials yourself and not depend on the school system if you don't agree with their materials.

Again, excuses.

We can't control that. If the parents in those school districts are anti-CRT then that will be the curriculum. If Governors in Red State push anti-CRT laws there is nothing we can do if we don't have the numbers to vote these people out.

The Black talking heads and political class wastes so much time on shyt they can't control. Meanwhile in mostly Black districts the kids can barely read and do math. But these people want us to think Chris Ruffo and DeSantis are our biggest problems.
Why the fukk do you think it is that kids in mostly black districts can't read and do math if not for people lile Chris Ruffo and DeSantis?
How do you guys come into these types of discussions when you don't even understand structural discrimination

I understand this way of thinking and there is a lot of truth here but the problem is less about our kids and more the other kids. Letting these people run unchecked makes it easier for these people to set up other kids to operate as agents of white supremacists.
DeSantis only doin' this 'cause he know issa numbers game. Black population ain't in our favor, expectin' other minorities to "help" black causes was the problem of previous generations.
DeSantis loses, the idea still lives. It's not enough to simply "vote against" DeSantis if black people don't utilize their resources to protect themselves.
That will require a complete shift in culture. And still, DeSantis winning doesn't impact black "allies" as much as black people.

Yea but it's not pragmatic.

Most black folks can barely take care of themselves let alone sit down and teach kids the under pinning of their history

It's not realistic.
You're infantilizing black people. That's the shyt that's turns so many black folks off. That we're just incapable of doing anything without white folks shyt

I grew up in the hood, hardworking mama, surrounded by killers, all that shyt and my mama still went out of her way to teach me my history. I read Autobiography of Malcolm X at 7 because my mama MADE me read that shyt:pachaha: read Mis Education of The Negro at 8

Now I understand the risks of anecdotal evidence but it's not without value, and it's def not unrealistic to put the onus of black education on black parents. Is it difficult? Sure but that's not an excuse

Racism exists and it always will as long as we're here, but too often black folks find any opportunity to pass the buck of responsibility onto everyone but themselves. It's wild that black folks are out here viciously campaigning for white people to teach them black history, ESPECIALLY when all of us are walking around with $500-1000 dollar computers in our pockets

You know that is a bullshyt excuse.

Who is the first teacher of the child?
What structural discrimination is stopping a parent from teaching their own child?
Chris Ruffo and DeSantis are not preventing Black parents from reading to their kids or teaching them math.
