3. The "rapidly evolved" cecal valves are just natural selection acting on pre-existing genetic information, helping a population adapt to its surroundings.
4. Researches were not even sure of the basic genetic change of the lizards; furthermore if returned to their environment the cecal valves possibly would dwindle as they return to their regular diets.
