Its a weird arguement considering gospel mirrors whatever popular music is at the time.
Bluegrass/swing influenced gospel prior to 40s, Rock and roll influenced gospel in the 60s, rock influenced white gospel in the 90s, r&b heavily influenced black gospel in the 80s and 90s as the winnans family took charge. An arguement could be made for kirk franklin or tobymac bringing hiphop elements into gospel too in the early 00s
And im pretty sure all these styles of worshipping would be viewed as demonic to christians in the 1800s.
