HOW IS IT fukkING INSULTING WHEN THE OSCAR VOTER BOARD IS 93% WHITE PEOPLE 75% MALE???

AND 93% caucasian is not gonna be biased towards P.O.C. or their fims therein???

:dahell:

I'm tired of seeing this bullshyt narrative the old guard needs to go... its been years... its time to go to give others a fighting chance, to make a fair and balanced voting tribunal!!!

I think Creed is an all-time great movie. I liked it better than Rocky I. I think Michael B had an incredible performance. I also watched most of the movies that were nominated and I felt Creed was better. Also the critics felt that it was better than most of the movies that were nominated.

I'm gonna ask this question again and let's see if you or anyone else can come up with a legitimate answer. "Oscar-bait" is bullshyt.

What specifically made the movies that were nominated better than Creed?

What specifically made the actors nominated better than MB Jordan?

You complained about nikkas now it's my turn. For some stupid fukking reason a lot of black people fall in line with "we have to be twice as good to get half as much". Why do you and so many black people do this?

You say Creed isn't an all time great movie? Okay well last time I fukking checked you don't have to be an all time time movie to be nominated:gladbron:

White movies certainly dont have to be all time great to get nominated:jbhmm:

Name one person that put in an all time great performance this year and give specific reasons as to why

What type of movie was Creed? Was it an action movie, a character study, a light-hearted bio? From my observation, the sports movies nominated are character studies first, sport-driven last. I didn't say it wasn't good; I said it it wasn't typical Oscar-type. They're typically underdog stories, David vs Goliath types. Creed doesn't portray that and that has nothing to do with it not being better than the rest of the movies nominated. I will say that all of the movies nominated never shift their tone. You know exactly what type of movie it is, whether it's boring or not. It doesn't try to engage you, it simply is. You really think that Creed is better than Rocky? EHHHH. All I said about Creed is that if you watch Balboa and Creed back-to-back, you see the similarities in tone, maybe even plot with son trying to escape his larger-than-life legendary father and eventually being at peace with it.

Well, what made them better? The fact that they were pushed? The Oscars are more political than anything. Hollywood is all about relationships and good standing. There's a reason why Meryl can flail her arms in a movie and be nominated (Into the Woods), Matt Damon can read the alphabet and be nominated, the same for Hopkins. It has nothing to do with anything other than good relationships and a marginally good role. These automatic slots take away from a would-be deserving slot. Then you have the studio behind them, campaigning for the others. Those are the rules to the game. No one expected Creed to be a runaway hit, and by then it was too late. hell, it was marketed as another Rocky movie. Playing a handicapped person is an automatic nod, playing a cross dresser or transgender, playing abandoned somewhere, patriotic films...It will be like this until the trend shifts.

When did I say anything about "twice as good to get half as much?" All I said is that black people need to go out for other roles instead of always playing the average black roles; that goes for mainstream Hollywood and black films. Blacks need to expand into other genres, period. Do sci-fi, do action, do thrillers, do horror, musicals - that's how you take over the industry. Of course Hollywood is racists (and sexists and classist). It's run by 70yr old white guys that have that bond. It won't be anything else until that whole generation dies out. But it is also built on relationships and favors and those people are old and grudge-holders. And it's still ran by green. You can't want those things that others have, without taking the steps that they took to get there. You have to forge those relationships, espcially if nothing else is backing you. I said that Will gets any role he wants along with several others. Jada getting upset because Will wasn't nominated for this, is absurd. I did watch the other night, and surprising it was very good. The accent was atrocious and they probably pissed off the NFL though. This whole boycott stemming from that holds no merit, especially if people of color were shut out. You're not nominated so who will remember if you're there or not? A boycott is being nominated and not showing (Will at the Grammy's). It would make no sense for Michael B to boycott. He's on the rise; he doing quality roles, any script is falling on his lap, he's building relationships...why would he harm these relationships?

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I just now thought about this episode of Wife Swap I saw with DJ Paul and Plaxico Burress

DJ Paul had his Oscar for Hustle and Flow in a box deep in his closet somewhere

:russ::russ:

You'd be surprised what some actors do with their Oscars. Morgan Freeman had a spot reserved on his mantle for years until he finally got it and Marlon Brando used his Oscar as a door stop. :lolbron:

TBF, all this means is that both institutions are racist. Although, people are gonna swing this as "he always does this when he doesn't have his way".

The Coli Militants in uproar against Will in this only mad cuz its will. If it was Denzel, probably Jamie, MBJordan, Sam L or Chris Nolan saying this.... nobody with issues would've said a word:mjlol:

Oh but since Will didnt do Django.... "we mad at him for life so fukk him and his family":russ:

I still feel the lack of opportunities for black actors and filmmakers is a more important issue than some award.

Lupita has an Oscar but has it helped her career in anyway? :francis:
