Super Hero movies used to be trash too :mjpls: they even started doing Super Hero comedies, romedies and action comedies :russ:
But then that X-Men dropped :mjpls:
Basically. There's absolutely no reason video game movies can't be the next thing to blow. You have one complete story pre-made, so you don't have to choose a particular arc like you do with comics. You don't have to deal with acquiescing to over bearing comic book nerds who'll complain if a character is too short or his origin story isn't the exact same. The possibility for creating franchises exists due to all the video game sequels out there. All they need is a big enough franchise that can attract a good director, and video game movies could be the next big thing. Maybe Metal Gear Solid could be that franchise.

Of all the companies that can make the video game movie genre something, it would probably be Sony who owns a hoard of IPs... and it helps that they're also a movie company.

Didn't they just sign a talented writer for this movie? One who also happens to be an Uncharted fan? Forgot his name....

There's no script, no director, no real plan.

I can see why he'd turn it down.
THR says Uncharted can't move ahead with out a leading man in place, but they report that Sony has nevertheless tapped Oscar winner Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker) to pen the script. Boal is said to be a fan of the video game.

Thats the problem right there. They just assumed that just because its Uncharted, theyre gonna get this year's breakout leading man star to get on board without any real direction. At least let Boal pen a few drafts of the script first, before you come knocking at Pratt's door.
