Baby you know you're judas and I'm your priest, baby what I got is not from the least, bring it to the stage and the rage of the beast...

:whew:

He went from being the priest to being a Judas in his mind

:ohhh:
Those are 2 of my favorite entrance songs of all time. The WWF one definitely added an extra layer to his debut

I didn't even know who Jericho was. I was like 9 and just figured he must be a big deal. Lol
:what: I thought everybody switched back and forth at least some.

Anyway Jericho’s ring work and mic work particularly as a heel in WCW was top notch. He started that bragging about all his fans (jerichoholics) while being a hated heel shtick before The Rock did. He would just freestyle his promos and they would let him and he was funny as fukk, and was getting all types of heat and crowd reactions, but WCW wouldn’t let him compete higher than cruiserweight/TV title level.

I was pleasantly surprised to see they gave him a debut that spectacular being that he was a midcard guy in WCW. I always thought he was dope and being held back in WCW, as he was often the most interesting thing on Nitro. Judging by the crowd pop a lot of people felt the same.

I didn’t think it was a big deal at the time cause he was never a lead guy at WCW. I was shocked the crowd was going crazy for a mid level guy

Jericho leaving was a big deal for months in advanced. I think Jericho leaving started in January of 99, maybe even late 98. He was one of those guys that everyone knew was being woefully misused. It wasn't like Rusev or Sandow where it was kind of mixed on how fans viewed their ceiling. Everyone knew Jericho was a huge star waiting to bust out and he was being misused because of politics.
