From a pure basketball standpoint Jalen is absolutely a superstar. He is a difference maker every time he plays. He may not be a freak athlete but he will outwork you and grind you down. The Knicks haven't a point guard as talented as Jalen Brunson in what 50 years? Quite Frankly I would take Brunson over at least half the players Brou listed.

Got the Knicks probably trying to move Randle and some picks to get him a true #2 that fits the team better.

Randle Brunson OG are like 15-1

The Knicks are fine as is

The problem with calling Brunson a "superstar" is that is not a basketball conversation. The word, it's meaning, and it's implication in the game is so weird.

Dame Lillard is a superstar. Brunson is not.

But Brunson is the better basketball player and seems to be capable of leading a team built around him deep into the playoffs.

So much of sports discourse has nothing to do with the X's and O's, but instead men trying to figure out who has more "aura" :dame:

Not better than Donovan Mitchell is hilarious. :dead:
I mean the two are damn near equal as players. It actually shows the effect of the NY boost that we hear so much more about what Brunson is doing compared to Mitchell when both have been dogs and killing it. I personally think both are borderline superstars.

It's funny cause I kept thinking that both couldn't sustain what they do because of the degree of difficulty of their shots but have been proven wrong.

By and large if youā€™re in all-nba 1st team considerations and MVP discussions, youā€™re playing at a superstar level. Superstars are essentially those who have the expectation of playing at that rarified air consistently/annually.

SGA has played at a superstar level all season (last 2 seasons you could argue). Ant is playing at a superstar level in the playoffs, meaning if he played at this level during the reg season.. he'd be unquestioned 1st team and top 5 mvp. However, neither SGA nor Ant were expected to be this good this early (if at all), so they weren't considered bonafide superstars. They'll have the expectations next year.

And so, similarly what will be the expectation of Brunson moving forward? He's playing like a superstar in the playoffs. Was damn good in the regular season as well.

First of all Brunson needs to do it all throughout the playoffs and not just 1 round.

Secondly, I think it's because his game isn't filled with highlight reels like Ant's or someone who has a lot of flair in their game like Steph.

However, no one should dispute that throughout these playoffs thus far, his production has been superstar level.

The guy knows how to get into the lane and get his shot off even though he's short by NBA standards and he's not the fastest or most athletic guy.

This is what it comes down to really.

The question is only partially basketball-oriented and up until he leads the Knicks to a chip, he won't be seen as one.

Ultimately, as a Knicks fan, I don't give a f*ck and I believe he doesn't really either.
