I remember a women I worked with talking about how her Grandma used to make her pick out a switch to beat her with, extension cords, shaking her, degrading remarks etc.....but she said all of this because her point was that the younger generation was soft and they needed some of the same treatment. To me that's sound like abuse and trauma but to her that's seems like standardized treatment and how you raise children. shyt is crazy out here

My big cousin used to smash Kim Fields, her family used to go to my families church in the early 90's (Perfecting/The Winans) and he got on her at church.

We were kids, but I definitely remember cuz bragging about smashing her when he was in his early 20's.

I think she was already famous, she is supposedly from Detroit and her family attended the church.

And that was because he used to run and/or fight back. He said that was the reason why he got it worse than all his brothers combined.

He's also the reason their beatings ended. Sometime after they were already signed to Motown they were rehearsing and believe Marlon kept messing up. Joe whipped him for it, Mike got fed up and told his daddy if he whipped any of them again he'd never sing another note. It never happened again. Mike might've been 13 maybe 14 at the time. They weren't getting ass whippings until they moved out of their parents' like everybody thinks.
