edit: Obviously not because I'm scared of balloons @88m3 . Obviously I'm not actively nervous about this shyt. Of all people, you have bombs dropping in your avi. I'm not immediately concerned about a war overnight, but this is aggressive at least on some level and it's just not the most awesome news.

Not that I have an answer for this scenario... But I imagine these unmanned balloons are also useful for gathering real world data about the F22s that are shooting them down?

Possible, the balloons exposed weakness in lower altitude radar detection. But I'd have to think F22s are being used in this scenario because they're likely more accurate to minimize damage on the ground. In a wartime scenario, a ship of any kind flying at those same altitudes would be downed using surface to air missles.
