It's funny because this shyt can NEVER happen here. I mean you can say it already did. They used to have married couples sleep in separate beds on TV.. No interracial couples.. They do have no sagging laws..

But to see where we are headed with all this political correct cancel shyt over here, and see them straight up like "Nah", is just crazy in 2021

They're literally cancelling shyt too...just on the opposite side of the political spectrum. I'm glad you brought cancel culture up tho...because judging by many of the replies to this thread, it goes to show that the "canceling" isn't the issue as much as what's getting "canceled"

And yeah they had similar rules for TVs and comics once upon a time but at least those rules seemed to be somewhat specific. A lot of things can be interpreted as "unmasculine" or "sissified"

It's china.. They might as well have a king. It's shytty, I know. Maybe I should have said ironic

And you're right about cancel culture.. Cause if China said they were banning hip hop fashion and music, same people would be in an uproar

Chinese Music Industry Reacts to Government's Hip-Hop Ban
Last month China's state media regulator, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China (SAPPRFT), issued a statement apparently banning hip-hop culture and people with tattoos from appearing on television. It suggested stations should not provide platforms for people “whose heart and morality are not aligned with the party and whose morality is not noble” and “not use actors who are tasteless, vulgar and obscene.”

These sweeping pronouncements, particularly those specifically aimed at hip-hop, were met with initial shock, especially since hip-hop acts like Higher Brothers and the TV show Rap of China are -- or were -- hugely popular. Now, the TV show will likely be taken off the air. But it remains unclear to what extent the authorities will try to enforce the media ban, or even what the end game is.
China's Music Industry Responds To Government Banning Hip-Hop
“From the government’s perspective, these rappers were quickly becoming major pop celebrities, and celebrities at that level are supposed to self-censor and be good role models, upholding Chinese/Communist values,” Marcus Rowland, head of A&R for the Beijing-based music-services company Outdustry, added. “This ban is the government saying what most of us always knew: that the government sees hip-hop as part of low-level society and not appropriate for mainstream audiences.”
