Alright, let me give you some context. I grew up in an upper middle class family but gravitated towards the streets. I'm educated, articulate, cultured, etc. but I did dirt because I just, for whatever reason, didn't feel like I belonged to that upper class world. Anyway, because of that, I have friends in that life who I still hang with. The problem is that they'll talk about shyt I'm like :wtf: at. They'll act in ways that make me go :snoop:, but I go along with it cuz these are nikkas I've made money with and who I've known since high school. It just gets frustrating keeping my feelings inside about their behavior because they know me as this street nikka, yet I'm more than that. I'm just venting about the culture clash and how it makes a nikka feel.

My man....simply move on. You owe no one anything. Sounds like you've matured.

what he said....

If you want to gravitate towards "street dudes" ... go into a community center and help some middle or high school youth .... you want to stop going :snoop: ...then help the young up and coming :thugsters: educationally, extracurricular activities, motivational sessions, etc .......

Alot of cats can relate to this one way or the other. For example, you're out here seeing hos being receptive to street swag, then you start questioning if being yourself will work :dwillhuh: . Then you some smart nikka trying to have a certain swag and cant live a day being yourself :snoop:

Easier said than done.

I said to "move on" bc I was in a similar situation as the OP.

Stable home. Nurturing environment (to a degree; another story).

Was surrounded by the foolish/ ignorance of my hood friends.

Enjoyed it, damn near reveled in it.

Like yourself, over time as I grew and remained around them, I had the eternal :snoop: :what: :why: faces.

I made the decision to remove myself from what I perceived as my potential downfall, mature and I am a better person as a result.

Crazy thing is they knew I was "different" and respected my decision to "grow up."

Speaking from experience, breh.

Funny thing is I did this after I realized there was a generation after me.

Have since been involved with many non-profits, charitable organizations focused on urban youths.

Good luck.
