I didn't like it at first. Like some have said it sounds like a P Funk cover band at times. It lost me near the middle but Standing Tall was a great closing track. I'd definitely have to give it more runs but yes, Terrified >>

So is it just me or is Bino doing a terrible Anthony Keidis impression on California? Rest of the album is flames, though...

Ludwig Goransson did his thing with the production. It takes some getting used to being that my mind is polluted with trap music but I like this project.

The crazy thing is the way the dome had us feeling like we were going through space. When we got the the planet or area for California it was very very perfect. It was like a blue based rainforest that we were gliding through.

Sitting with it for a minute, I'm really digging this album (minus California).

The most interesting thing about this project is the overall narrative of "The Talk," where he's examining white fear of blackness in an over-the-top horror story he's telling to his son, (along with the birds & bees). It's omnipresent on every track but never over-the-top or preachy and so soaked into the music that I'm sure many listeners won't even connect to the theme. I see it as Glover's version of a musical companion to Between the World and Me.

I loved this from start to finish. The only track I was originally down on was California but even that started to grow on me after multiple spins.
