From what I read it was more like wolves kept coming around our camps and eating scraps we left behindIt actually shocks me how our ancestors survived hundreds of thousands of years ago when everything from bugs to fungus to mammoths to saber tooth tigers were out to kill us.
I still have no idea what compelled the first human to kidnap a grey wolf and make it play fetch
So, they got friendlier with us over time until they became subservient.
