Most of these dudes live in gang infested areas, especially on the south side. Most of them don't have 2 parents. Most of them have never had any type of life, career, or financial advice outside of the shyt they learn on the block. Most of them learn that being a savage is the only way to survive, very early on in life. All that is reinforced when everybody turns a blind eye to the problems they face. You got kids that are 13 and 14 years old taking care of 2 or 3 younger siblings. How are they gonna get food and security? Probably by involving themselves in some street shyt.
You don't get that a lot of these KIDS are standing with their backs against the wall, the shyt that you see as some "dumb ass hood shyt," is just life for them. There's nothing sacred, dudes get shot up while they're walking with their kids, babies even. These kids are born into a very violent society, and yea, there are some that make better decisions and make it out, but it the area that this happened, that ain't the norm. A lot of these kids become products of their environment and adapt t the best way they know how. Because working hard and getting good grades seems absurd when you can't picture life past 17 or 18 years old.

I didn't grow up in that type environment. Had both parents. Lived I. The burbs. Summer camp. Library and computers at home. Maybe I'm naive. I just feel like you make them out to mindless savages without any free will. We all have a choice. Look at kanye. Or chance the rapper. Or even lupe, and he grew up surrounded by that. We all have a choice, man. I think this "environment" argument is an excuse.
