You're too idealistic. Of course, this is what must be done. However, its not realistic.
And to compare militarization of the police in Brazil and Mexico, places that don't have the regulation in place that we have here, is not a good example to reference.

What you are asking for is not going to happen because it would mean that we would have to start regulating the sexual habits of black men in women in the ghetto and you know that's not going to happen. To hit this shyt at it's core, we have to start at the family level. 1) We would have to somehow convince these poor black men and women to stop having sex or having children out of wedlock because they can't afford it. 2) We would have to somehow convince these poor black men and women to get married to keep black families in tact. 3) We would have to somehow convince these poor black men and women to take their education seriously.

These are serious mental shifts that will take a few generations to break. Possible, if it wasn't for the fact that out of wedlock births, single motherhood, and a disregard for formal education is increasing at alarming rates in mainstream American society. It is not realistic to expect from a demographic, that has lower levels of education and wealth, to operate inversely to trends that are already taking place in broader American society. In fact, these trends will be more pronounced at this level of society.

And to be honest, "in-tact families", "education", and "self-respect" are considered to be middle class ideas. Until the issue of "safety" is dealt with first, you can't move up the pyramid to focusing on "middle class" ideas i.e. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

Solutions are needed now that will have an immediate effect. We address the safety issue first, then we can go on to address jobs, education, and family.
The problem is that poverty disproportionately effects the black community. 29% of black women live in poverty compared to 17% of other race of women which is deplorable. Secondly New York had worse murder rates in the lates 80s and early 90s. They didn’t send the New York national guard in because the role of the military is not to police an area. You send the military when total order breaks down and the local police department is totally overwhelmed. The NYPD basically changed their whole police practice before Giuliani came to office. He only spear headed it. However he let the NYPD loose which led to increase police brutality which is a lesson to be learned. Which is if a cop brutalizes a citizen persecute them. But at the same time apply broken windows policing. CPD has to be totally reformed because you can tell the morale is low, standards are low, corruption reigns and they have no strong ties with the community after the lynching of LaQuan McDonald. Reform it and apply effective policing that LA and NYC has done to lower their murder rates.

i love how y'all promote judge dredd shyt, as if shyt like tha brutality & corruption won't happen, considering tha reality of tha first statement. What precedent has been set where entire law enforcements have been held accountable for their actions? Also i didn't know having tha onus of responsibility on us meant to call to a stronger cac law agency to 'control these monsters for us':damn: yall reactionary nikkas kill me with tha quick fix bs. What happens when tha *insert us law agency here* has to leave for whatever reason? Do you intend for them to stay indefinitely? Do you think tht tha conditions tht created this will magically wash away with this increased military presence? Or do you hope for a more 'final' solution?:mjpls: What is your end game? Cause yall ain't no different than tha reactionary nikkas back in tha 90s tht called for tha Clinton administration to start bammin nikkas heavy, and look how tht turned out. Yall thought tha problem would go away, but we just ended up with more fatherless nikkas. Even Clinton said he regrets signing off on tht shyt.
But on the flip side you wonder why cops just dont want to get involved.

At some point, you're dealing with:

Incentives
Human psyche
Realism of the diversity of policy proposals and outcomes

Its like how Russia approaches war versus the USA. Both armies will go in and raise hell... But one has rules, the other...doesn't. Theres a way to do this and theres a way to not do this.

I remember the 90s...and theres a reason THAT happened.

What yall forget is that it wasn't Hillary calling criminals "super thugs"...its that it was bad enough that SANDERS ACTUALLY VOTED FOR THE BILL and BLACK PASTORS AROUND THE COUNTRY WANTED THESE BILLS. Bill Clinton isn't lying...the black community AT THE TIME wanted those laws. Crime wasn't just out of control in cities, but around the entire country.

Militarized policing doesn’t work. Brazil and Mexico have tried and it and their murder rates exploded after they did. Plus big cities for example like the city I’m from NYC had 1.5k-2k murders in the 1980s and early 90s have since declined. There is a blue print that can be implemented. There is a lot of contributing factors why murders declined in NYC. Broken windows policing led to decline of crime here.

Gang injunctions need to be used. Also the community has to get involved because there is so much the government who despise you will do. More after school programs, Rec centers, also teaching the youth the value of work and staying in school. The issue is is yes these young nikkas grew up in broken homes. However there has to be a culture of self respect and shaming. Shaming irresponsible sexual practices ie oops babies, encourage young black men to get into blue collar trades by having black men in those fields mentoring them, and encourage an environment of education and excellence similar to African and Caribbean communities. This is what must be done for the community to survive.
Civil society is a lot different in mexico for you to say it doesn't work.

and I find it funny you advocate broken window policing...some would argue that IS militarized policing :usure:

and Gang injunctions? vastly unpopular...but apparently they work???

Which is it?

We gotta define the terms.

I support what works, but if we're calling things that you and I seem to agree on on the surface, then are those bad?

Bernie Sanders, black pastors... they were out of touch, scared, unable to see tha bigger picture, and wanted a quick fix, just like everybody else. Namedropping them doesn't invalidate any of tha points i made. Why make tha same short sighted mistake again on a more aggressive scale? You don't think it's a problem when your 'solution' can be found parroted by clueless cac trolls from parma ohio on tha YouTube comment sections of charliebo 'driving through k town chiraq' videos? 'Trump needs to call in tha guard and take down these animals once and for all.':beli: To me thts hitting tha 'i give up' button.

Whats more likely?

ambiguous jobs coming in that are competitive enough and stable enough to fix this...or...police removing clear and present threats with zero tolerance?

Ay man. I hate to be tha bearer of bad news but @ab.aspectus is right in tht tha real solution will take multiple generations and alot of our ppl will have to put work in knowing damn well tht returns may not be seen until they're long gone. But itching for a quick fix will only make it harder for us in tha long run.

Sending the military to the streets in Chicago makes no sense. The only time the military is sent to the streets is when order is broken down and the local police department is overwhelmed. The murder rates in Chicago recently with the exception of last year as depolorable as it is is peanuts compared to Chicago’s murder rate in the 80s and 90s. Chicago and New York went through the same thing. Best way is to do what worked in LA and New York.

Secondly gang injunctions are needed because you have to crackdown hard on gangs. Here in NYC every month there is a gang bust in one of the five boroughs. Just last month there was a Blood gang bust in Brooklyn. We can talk about how unfair and unpopular it is but it prevents further beefs from happening. And another reason why murders are down in NYC is tough gun prosecutions. Possession of an illegal firearm in NYC have you serve 3-5 years. Used in a crime? 15-20 years. Word to Troy Ave.
I’m hearing stories in Chicago and New Orleans that if caught with an illegal firearm could lead to the criminal only paying a fine or in probation. The strict illegal firearms laws has changed the way organized crime operates here too. The city is seeing low crime also because there is a Pax Mafiosa here as well. Most street nikkas see it’s not worth it to shoot it out because police is everywhere and the cost of having a bang-out is too damn high. So street nikkas here only focused in making money. The laws and policing tactics changed the way New York gangs and crews operate now. Now they are more mindful and more hesitant to shoot. Plus the rise of credit card, check and tax fraud, overcrowded drug market, there is ways to make money. Casanova on the Breakfast Club alluded this. So the changes of behavior by organized criminal groups has been influence by the laws and police practices on the ground. I bet you the same would happen in Chicago. Sending the military whose job isn’t to investigate and solve crimes is a bandaid to a shotgun wound. It’s ineffective and the military don’t want to do that anyway.

would a republican mayor fix this?

I'm legit asking.

Let's put it like this, it would never get done under a democratic mayor. Rahm is so intertwined with the black establishment in the city (i.e Valerie Jarrett, Marty Nesbit, John Rogers) they're not going to allow increased militarized policing to happen under his term. It would have to take a mayor that doesn't already have preexisting ties to the black community, is a bit detached and not easily influenced by the black elites. I'm not sure how easy this would be because the black elites are very intertwined within the city but that most likely will look like a republican mayor.

However, I'm not operating under the illusion that the grass will be greener on the other side. In fact, quite the opposite. With a republican mayor, you can almost guarantee increased privatization of the city (highway tax, expansion of red light and speed cameras, expansion of city meter parking) and increased school closures and disinvestment which will continue to enable the school to prison pipeline.

I also don't see a republican mayor addressing the underlying systemic issue of poverty affecting the south and west sides but more concerned with putting away as many criminals as possible (which means free labor for many corporations around the state). So to answer your question, I think a republican mayor could curtail crime, however, I'm not sure I would be interested in that at the expense of the other baggage that would come along with a republican mayor.

If this was to happen, I would rather it be under a democratic mayor, but with the way current political dynamics are around the city, I don't see that happening. I could be wrong though.
