My godfather lives in Chicago and he says it's not as bad as the media makes it out to be. The few times I been there I never felt any unease. I think the media hyped it up because it's President Obama's hometown.

That's how I feel when I go to Compton

is there any particular reason why its become the most violent city in america? what is it about chicago that makes folks more trigger-happy?

I saw a documentary about the Mexican cartel like 5 or 6 years ago that said Chicago was the main distribution point in cocaine thoughtout the United States.. Like everything that goes to NY, DC, Philly etc all come from Chicago via Mexico..

This may sound far fetched and on the verge of conspiracy theory-ish but I don't care.....I've had this thought for about 5 years. I think the crazy violence in Chicago is the price we had to pay for Barack Obama. A certain amount of black blood had to spill in order for him to hold office. Chicago being where he's officially from on record is where the sacrifice had to take place. Yea Chicago has always been violent but we didn't start seeing it get like this until the Obama years. There's a direct correlation and to deny it is choosing to be blind.

It's much like an institutionally racist bicycle ...

America's Black populace was never dysfunction, those pockets of dysfunction had to have been learned or indoctrinated.

The training wheels on this bicycle was the lack of support and rehabilitation after hundreds of years of slavery. Let's add the Jim Crow South which affected the Southern Black population where more than 80% of this Country's black populace resided.

Now that bicycle is starting to pick up speed...

Then you have the sad reality facing those 8 million Black people who moved West and North during the Great Migration between 1907-1970; they believed there would be a salvation from Southern hate but were met by Northern isolation.

You have zoning laws, vices allowed to fester in Black neighborhoods, lack of upwards mobility and the iron hammer of the law focused on those Black communities.

Now that bicycle is flying down the hill, training wheels starting to shatter apart...

Then you add how drug policy disastrously affected urban communities...

Now, that bicycle is left with the remnants of the training wheels and many communities continue down a sad spiral as a result of recklessness/negligence by the Country that owed them an opportunity to be set right.
