Chicago has been a violent city since prohibition in the 1920s.
no family structure is at the forefront of this problem. Politicians try to make it about jobs, a way they keep their jobs BTW, but its more to do with lack of community and structure in the home..
Also, as crazy and "soft" as this sounds, these kids were deprived of love as kids. Simply spending time with kids, telling them you love them, you're proud of them and correcting them when wrong, goes a long way in childhood development. Its really sad.

Chicago has a century-long gang culture that the city can never shake off. Chicago also has a history of corruption in it's government but that's just one of the many problems though.
what does any pf that have to do with black-on-black violence?

Chicago been violent since Capone. The problem is when white folks were tearing up Chicago it gets romanticized, look at all the documentaries praising him. Now that its black gangstas its a problem.
Plus Chicago is pretty segregated so shyt is all on one side of town and no jobs and opportunities on they side plus you got a corrupt government fanning the flames

This may sound far fetched and on the verge of conspiracy theory-ish but I don't care.....I've had this thought for about 5 years. I think the crazy violence in Chicago is the price we had to pay for Barack Obama. A certain amount of black blood had to spill in order for him to hold office. Chicago being where he's officially from on record is where the sacrifice had to take place. Yea Chicago has always been violent but we didn't start seeing it get like this until the Obama years. There's a direct correlation and to deny it is choosing to be blind.

Matter fact the 5 years before 2016 was the safest stretch since the 60s

Never been to Chicago for anything longer than a drive through and it looked like a very nice city. Spent time in other cities and the problem starts with the way you framed your question "why is CHICAGO..." The whole city isn't violent, I've only been to one American city that was messed up from end to end and that's Camden, NJ
If I had to guess I would say chicago has 1 to 3 violent areas that span a from a couple to a couple dozen blocks each and that's where at least 80% of the violent crimes happen and if I had to guess those areas are probably highly improvished, and that's your answers. Take any disenfranchised people, put them in a small area, give them nothing to do, allow drug and gang culture to flourish, violence will follow.
Now that Obama ain't president I think we will here less and less about the violence in Chicago, like i said there are dozens of cities around the country with violence issues. Here's one you probably never heard of Omaha, Nebraska: The Most Dangerous Place In America To Be Black
