Chicago man charged with murder in beating death of 1-year-old boy


Chicago authorities have charged a 23-year-old man with murder in connection with the beating death of a toddler earlier this week on the city’s South Side.

Michael Robinson allegedly pummeled the 23-month-old boy just after noon on the 4200 block of South Calumet Avenue Tuesday, punching him multiple times in the face, police said.

Antwun Gayden, the victim, was pronounced dead at Comer Children’s Hospital a half hour after the incident.

The community should be able to imprison these types ourselves and do whatever punishment we deem fit

I work with at risk youth and adolescent repeat offenders and have been for almost 14 years now and one thing stands out. We can see the problems starting as young as 4/5 years old and the lack of access to therapy, assisting with parenting and an effort to empower the kids that want to stay far away or leave the vicious cycle of inadequate learned behaviour from peers and their network speaks volumes on how a lot of money and recsources are used wrong by people that have no clue how to reach these kids. By the time these kids are teens,a lot of imprinting has been going on,from PTSD to undiagnosed mental ilness to depression. I've talked to mothers,fathers, brothers,sisters, uncles and teachers and the same thing gets repeated "we dont have anything to offer to counter what they are going through outside". There is no easy solution but i do know that it will have to come from the same people that are going through it the hardest.The mothers,fathers,brothers,sisters uncles need to be empowered and supported,both financially and emotionally to reclaim their kids from this negative cycle. Media pays the grass roots attempts no mind but brings the super trooper out everytime murder becomes a headline with a certain city or group attached to it,no accountability or empathy,just clicks and views. They are just as much an imstrument of white supremacy as police imo.

Well unfortunately we depend on other races for jobs since we don't have enough black businesses or economic wealth to support each other .. so yeah, we have to clean up and look good if we want to survive out here. Not everyone can be entrepreneurs. Still need the white man to give us a job, loans, let us in their schools, neighborhoods, buildings, etc. There's the way we wish the world was, and then there's the way it is. Reality is we can't get our own shyt right and need to depend on others

This is VERY TRUE. I think the destigmatization of mental illness and GETTING HELP for mental illness will go a loooong way in our communities. The mental health aspect of this issue cannot be overstated.

Hate when you nikkas play the dumb and oblivious card when you have nothing else to add. I only stop talking about the shyt cuz I, like the silent majority, realized the shyt is a lost cause. If black people really wanted to change, we'd stop glorifying rappers (unless they're conscious/positive rap), stop glorifying gangsters and violence and "real nikkas", stop calling women bytches and hoes, stop glorifying thots and sexualizing our women, treat our women with respect, stop making babies and not raising them, eat healthy and encourage healthy eating, stop dropping out of school, aspire to be more than entertainers and athletes, stop killing each other, make being smart cool, START snitching, shun the criminals from our communities, support black businesses (don't just say it), keep money circulating in the community longer than 6 hours, spend less time on social media and partying and loitering and more time in books, etc.

Black America is broken and can never be fixed. The overwhelming majority of our communities mentality is too far gone. This is not a generalization of all black people, but this is a good majority of our communities. Our biggest degenerates are the loudest and make the rest of us look bad.
