chi is the human life force, the energy that animates your physical body, the reason you run on electromagnetism but dont plug into a wall... and you literally pull it into your body out of thin air every time you breathe.

relax your entire body.
take a deep breath, slow from the bottom of your stomach.
at the top of your breath, hold it.
clench kegel/anal muscle.
hold it for 7 secs.
release kegel/anal muscle.
breathe out as slowly as possible.
those energy pulses you feel in your body, that is chi.

and it doesnt carry with it psychic powers. but it does carry the ability to get your human vessel functioning at 100% capacity, which includes abilities that some would perceive as "supernatural" when really it's just having access to a more primal level of reality by possessing higher frequencies of energy.

an analogy: it's like having a broken button on your tv remote. the mute button may not work, the volume button may get stuck sometimes, but you can still change the channel, and you can still turn the tv off and on, etc

same thing with chi/life force... your mind and body may work on a basic level, but other fundamental abilities may be impaired.

So basically it's the equivalent to alining your charkras?

I actually should ahve given this a little more thought. I don;t know shyt about chakra besides the energy center concept or whatever but a lot of TCM and Neidan theory involves coordinating your three dan tian, which represent the centers in your body which house your life force, mind, and 'spirit' so to speak. Read up on the 'three treasures'. Like I said, I don't have much invested in this from a metaphysical perspective. I just do a few routines for mental and physical benefit.

MY CLOSE PERSONAL FRIEND BRUCE LEE SAID PUBLICLY THAT HE DID NOT BELIEVE IN QI (CHI) AND HE WAS DOING TWO FINGER PUSHUPS, BROTHER! HOW, DUDE? HARD WORK AND DISCIPLINE, JACK! NO MYSTIC GURU SHORTCUTS TO PHYSICAL GREATNESS, MEAN GENE!

western people are always getting into this stuff for pie in the sky nonsense. if you wanna do dingertip pushups, work on your grip strength by slowly progessing to fingertip pushups from normal ones. there are lots of good tools and resources out there for such things that have fukk all to do with qi.

:snoop: it's a combination of focus, marrying breathing to movement, and hand conditioning, and in some cases pure fakery. There are legitimate practitioners of Iron Palm out there, I know some myself. A lot of the training is really not so different conceptually from hitting a heavy bag. The only difference is that theres a meditative aspect, and herbal salves applied after training to speed up recovery.

Chi, as I understand it, coming from someone who's been into daoism for a bit, isnt mystical energy. For lack of a better explanation, having 'good Qi' is when all of the systems of your body are maintained very well. Basically, being in super good health. I don't really want to talk about Neigong or any internal alchemy related stuff because it's wonky, but at the end of the day it can help you regulate your bodily functions just as much as any healthy form of exercise and diet.

This. There's nothing magical and mystical about breaking. You condition the part you want to break with, then build speed, the build internal power via breathing. I have a few breaks in my repertoire, mainly via kicking. Certain ones come easier than others.

If you feel lightheaded during breathing exercises you're doing it wrong and you should probably stop what you're doing before you bust a blood vessel in your head

It should feel like you feel your blood circulation, cause that's what it is: increased energy circulation because of the increase in oxygen in the blood stream. Don't focus on your head...matter of fact, dont try and learn this shyt from a book period. Go find a traditional Chinese kung fu school or organization. Not WuShu...that's just for show. You'll get washed on the street if you try it.
