this looks dope. I imagine you can customize the difficulty while playing against computer? would you recommend this for a new learner?
Yes. You can play a stock engine they created using AI which is simulated to play more like a human, rather than a computer which is always going to execute the best possible move. So it might throw in an inaccuracy or a blunder randomly to try to throw you off. Then there's also stockfish engine, and LC0, plus other engines you can download so it's pretty much never ending and the more you play/practice the better you get. It has a career mode which is addicting to me because I want to push myself to get higher. You win it goes up, you lose it goes down.
If you are truly new I would recommend it because you can play/practice vs the computer and theres something different about looking at the board and moving a piece vs swiping or clicking and dragging.
It's happened to me on the board and on my phone/PC that maybe I was careless and dropped a piece a square too short, or too long. Or even fukked up and wasn't paying attention and tried to move a piece to a square it didn't belong...with the physical pieces it's easy to miss either an opportunity or a threat because one piece is behind or in front of another and just looking at the plane you have to be cognitive about it. If you just use your phone everything is top down you don't really have to worry about it.
And to add on you can play people online while they use their phone or PC/tablet, or if they have one they y'all can both play physical chess rather than clicking and pointing.
You can save and analyze all your games, review them, correct mistakes, set up custom board settings so you can start in the middle of a game and practice.
It's dope.
