I actually liked McCain a little before the 2008 election. He seemed like a pragmatic, reasonably-minded politician. 2008 campaign brought some different shyt out of him.

yeah he did a lot of pandering.
I liked him in my state...considering who he was sitting with and running against and the overall tomfoolery that has been the GOP in AZ he was actually the reasonable one.

PErsonally had he stayed true I think he wouldn't have made for a bad pres.

His problem is that he was Charles Barkley's Suns to Obama's MJ's Bulls. That's to say in any other year he would have stood a great chance of winning, but he went up against the Goat (and only in terms of his arrival on the scene and what Bush had done).

If McCain were running against Obama this year and someone else ran against him last election I think McCain would win.

lol why is no one calling him out for saying palin was a good pick at the time
because we all knew he was lying, nobody thought it was a good choice. He didn't just realize it was a bad choice now. She caused McCain to lose as badly as he did. Obama had it in the bag after getting passed Clinton in the primary though.

He never changed. You called him pragmatic - wouldn't it be pragmatic to pander to your base to the chagrin of people like you who would have voted for Obama anyway?

Not if you're alienating independents and moderates--the ones who get you elected. After all, the goal is to get elected, right? Pandering to your base is to get the party nomination; it will not get you elected. Getting elected means appealing to a wider cross section of society.

You really suggesting that McCain didn't change at all? :heh: He caught flak within his own party because he was a "maverick." Then all of a sudden he's not as "mavericky" and just seems like a typical conservative Republican candidate. But he hasn't changed? :comeon:

You win with your base. Those independent and moderates had already moved en-mass to Obama. So his options were to either try to win over Obama moderates and independents who were slobbing his dikk - which wasn't going to happen or try to shore up his base and hope for the best. As the pragmatist he is, he chose the most pragmatic option.

A few Floors Down from the Daily Grind
McCain at least had some integrity. Once Bush went to the loony bin to win in 2000, it's been all down hill from their with the conservative base.

The last time we saw the fringe outliers of a political party get moved to the center of the platform in such a condensed amount of time was the fukking Nazi's.

It's hard not to make the :snoop: on a daily basis when looking at my Facebook feed or the internet and seeing the hypocritical bullshyt being spewed on a daily basis by these Fox News zombies.
