hmm Corey Haim's mom could either be in the dark but if she was aware of another person and Corey spoke to her about it you would think he wouldn't have a problem saying Charlie did the same. So I think that creates enough reasonable doubt to clear Charlie from this rumor publicly , although it was believable that he was engaging in sodomy since he caught HIV, but could have been bad needles too.

you know these hollywood parents dropped their kids off and let whatever go down...they found out about some of the shyt thru the child but a lot i bet was never vocalized to them. the parents of these kids are usually very naive and trusting of anyone who smiles in their face for long enough.

Any parent who leaves their child alone like that now is a damn fool and is probably lowkey willing to look the other way if some shyt goes down but yeah, this is how things worked for decades. Parents were trusting and naive. The thought didn't even enter most of their minds because anything like what's coming out now was so far-fetched it was basically impossible - to them.

And a parent that was "hands on" or always demanded to be present or nearby was labeled a stage parent (esp "stage mom"). That term is supposed to mean "greedy or overbearing, etc" - and sometimes it did/does- but a lot of parents of young actors who were interested in their child's safety got hit with the same label. And in the industry, that's almost as bad as an adult actor being labeled "difficult". It's all just code for "you don't want this person on your project", which ruins careers. So even some cautious parents backed off, especially when agents and casting directors gaslit them or applied pressure, making them feel "crazy" for being concerned "about nothing".

There were actually parents who were so uncomfortable with all this that they pulled their children out of acting altogether. shyt, my mom was one of them.

Yup, like some woman was on Open Secret saying she hates when kids come in and say that their parent is holding their profile shot. The kids should be responsible for that and at the age of i wanna say 8 or 10 you’re an adult

Welllll......... no.

There are times when parents really are greedy and sociopathic enough to use their child as a meal ticket. A lot of former child stars who made good money as kids, entered adulthood broke and in debt because of their parents greed and spending habits. Getting emancipated is often a necessary action but it requires a lot of legal maneuvering and evidence.

Ariel Winter ( who plays the youngest daughter on Modern Family) gained emancipation from her mother at like 16 - and started the legal process even sooner iirc - because she was abusive, neglectful and tried to pimp her out. There are pictures of Ariel at like 12 looking like a full grown woman at Hollywood parties her mother dragged her to, wearing the inappropriate clothes and makeup her own mother chose. She was also mismanaging her money.

Honestly, emancipation is the least likely route a child predator would choose as it contains too many legal obstacles.
