He's not far off...

And if you're from the south you know we have.......a preference!

Our prejudice is right up there with the prejudice NY had in the 90s.

Oh course a couple of Kendrick songs are so huge that everyone is playing them. But in general...CW not wrong for the average southern person.

I heard from a promoter that there were several cities in Florida where Kendrick canceled shows because he couldn't sell the tickets. Unless he brought someone like kodak too. We are very closed minded down here to musical variety. If its a smash hit...we'll listen to it...but it's not being played in hood clubs and house parties.

Hard to articulate it...
Glad someone actually admits it.

Saying this in the streaming era is hilarious. This is not the. 90’s anymore. Everybody can easily listen to everything

Regionalism is slowly dying in rap due to the internet and streaming. Hell kids here barely even have southern accents, they all just sound like one dialect. You go further into the city maybe they do, but im in the suburbs and they just sound like kids from anywhere. They also listen to everything. My oldest daughter is 15 and she likes 2000's RnB and Green Day

If the south doesn’t listen to Kendrick then it’s no great loss for him. He’s still selling like crazy and breaking records. Clearly, he has more than enough people listening to him.

My aunt is southern and she’s loved Kendrick for years. I think she’s seen him in concert before as well.

I guess the real conclusion to get from this is that people really need to stop thinking they can speak for everyone just because the people they around are a certain. There are millions upon millions of southern people. Folks really need to remember that..

Certain Texas niccas have an envy for California dudes.
Not all, but a small majority. He is one of them.

What black artists does CW likes, that displays a larger than normal vocabulary and not conform to partying?

It seems like the sumber you portray yourself to be, the more successful you become according to him :mjpls:

Basically, if you a super lyrical breh that happens to construct songs and amthems as well, you are classified as "boring"

“Several cities in Florida" Either that promoter is capping, or he must've been talking about when Kendrick was in his Section 80 days. There aren't several cities in this state worth touring. :mjlol:

Miami, Orlando, either Jax/Tampa and that's it. :mjlol:

Florida is way too transient of a state for any MAJOR pop rapper(Kendrick or Drake) to cancel shows for not having enough fans. It's not like Kendrick is some small rapper who has to rely on playing Vegas Caberet. Hella Florida residents aren't even from here, for the local flavor to dictate MAJOR artists tours. Outside of Kodak, even none of the local artist have pull and selling out like that. Again, outside of the hood circuit. And that circuit doesn't dictate MAJOR artists who roll into town. If Charleston mean "LOCAL Southern residents dont listen to Kendrick" then that logic would have to extend to damn near every popular non-southern rapper. As each Southern market is gonna be hyper regional. :manny:
