My understanding of statutory laws is they were instituted because it was costing the States too much money taking care of children born to teen moms who were too young to work or have job skills. So basically it was due to economics. Not natural.

If you observe other organisms on this planet, the female gender chooses the most ESTABLISHED and CAPABLE male they can. Not one close to their age. A lioness will choose the male lion with a full mane and territory, not the lion her age with the scruffy mane.

The interaction between older males and younger females I hypothesize is natural according to NATURE. I'm not touching upon it being right or wrong, just saying that nature suggests that when the female of a species is physically sexually mature, she is ready to entertain males and often the males are older. This doesn't include females who are not sexually mature, which is true pedophilia.
