...the guy Breonna was with fired his gun (as he should), and police returned fire.

I think it highlights something brehs.i do feel that you can't charge the cops. The law in itself is the problem. Not the police. The cops were following the law and did this then it's the law that needs to be reviewed.

What do some of you think policing looks like in wealthy, white neighborhoods? You think cops are constantly patrolling the blocks, questioning and harassing white people who look out of place? The issue is over policing, something that doesn’t happen in these wealthy areas but is a constant problem for poor black people.
Defunding the police is about cutting those bloated ass budgets and putting money towards programs actually needed in poor black neighborhoods. Mental health services, intervention programs, genuine job training, etc.
