If my memory serves me correct Chante Moore already had this song recorded but I don’t know what Sony was doing with it. Once it was decided Jennifer’s project was going forward Puffy, who was heavily involved, lobbied to the higher ups at the label and basically wrestled the song away from her to give to Jennifer and the rest is history

Close. What happened is Puffy went to Darkchild looking for songs and happened to hear him working on that Chante song. DC had already sold it to her so what he did was basically remake the song for Puffy. Either way it was a shytty thing to do, and stepped on Chante's release(knowing she didn't have the same kind of push at that time).
