Just finished watching this :francis:. I thought it started out really creepy and disturbing with the first few episodes, but felt it got cheesy and ridiculous towards the end. I won't go into spoilers, but the momentum definitely dropped off to me and the conclusion was downright :mjlol:. Maybe the writers wanted to lean into that, but it came across as bad Syfy horror to me and for some reason they kept Jill's emotions at like a 5 or 6 level, when she needed to be :damn:and :demonic:at a number of different times.

I know exactly how you feel but that's horror. Its steeped in corny. AHS "suffers" from the same "problem", but in actuality, we as the audience sign that waiver when we decide to jump into the horror genre. Some of the most critically acclaimed horror films/tv series are corny. They have to be, because at a certain point, jump scares and the big scary guy wielding a knife, becomes boring. Cheesy is fine if done correctly, AHS mastered both horror, creepy and cheesy. Twilight Zone is the GOAT but it had cheesy plotlines, which is okay because its made to explore more meta issues.

:usure:

AHS ain't mastered shyt about horror. I've yet to see this season of Channel Zero, but the others (although not without their faults) are the furthest thing from being "steeped in corny".

Eh, while I agree with some of your points I felt they could have done better. It's easier to sustain horror in say a movie, but the series was only 6 episodes. Penny Dreadful for instance was able to do a great job over the course of a series, and from what I hear - The Haunting of Hill House does so as well.

You definitely have to switch things up while doing a show, but it could have benefited from better character development, dialogue, etc.

Just started watching this. Why is no one talking about this?:mindblown:

Yeah she fine, fine. I’d follow her around and protect her too:shaq:
if it came on AMC or HBO i think it would get way more attention. I dont think people who value quality are really watching the SyFy channel all like that just yet. They've been putting out some good stuff the last few years and its all under the radar.

‘Channel Zero’ Canceled By Syfy After 4 Seasons
‘Channel Zero’ Canceled By Syfy After 4 Seasons
There will be no Season 5 of Nick Antosca’s well received horror anthology series Channel Zero. Syfy previously had ordered a third and fourth installment of the anthology ahead of its second season premiere.

Antosca served as executive producer, showrunner and writer on Channel Zero. He first announced the cancellation on Instagram, and Syfy has confirmed.

“After 4 seasons, Channel Zero is no more at SYFY,” Antosca wrote. He went on to thank the show’s writers, actors, crew, et al. You can read his entire post below the story.

Each installment of the Channel Zero anthology was based on a “creepypasta” (user-generated horror stories published online). The first installment, the six-part Candle Cove, centered on Kris Straub’s unnerving story of one man’s obsessive recollection of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s.

The series was produced by Universal Cable Prods. Next for Syfy is the debut of Deadly Class.

Hopefully Netfilx picks them about for another season.
