I use to avoid these threads back on SOHH because back then, I hadn't heard anything from Frank Ocean to really do a comparison, and I'm not one to allege something without hearing the other side like stans often do; however, after finally hearing some of Frank's most critically acclaimed stuff, I think The Weeknd makes far and away the more superior music. I also find it funny that "Pyramids" gets so much praise, especially the second portion of the song, but Weeknd literally has dozens of songs like that. The Weeknd's music literally creates a fukking zone for me.... Drugs in the form of musical notes and audio.

:rudy: im not a fan of these new r&b dudes at all.

confessions >>>>>>>> anything that soft emo fakkit the weeknd has and will ever drop

You do realize the guy you voted for is the one who actually came out of the closet, right ?

honestly both artist arent even comparable both are on two different spectrum's when it comes to music. Frank Ocean music is centered around his lyrical prowess and delivery within the music. you cant listen to channel orange or Nostalgia ultra on a couple of listens and gather everything he's trying to convey. his music is no where near simplistic neither are his lyrics. weeknds music is basically triphop in another form it's meant for drug users, you listen to fo on drugs you gon be like :what: probably blow your high :russ:

man shut the fukk up. just take it as frank ocean vs. the weeknd. we all know about nostalgia ultra u dumb ass cac
lol at this cac calling me white, while yo hoe ass listed one album fakkit :pacspit:

Yep he created what The Dream has been creating for years :beli: I hate when nikkas give props that belong to other artist.

The content of Pyramids is not like Weeknd's songs tho ... just because it is long, in two parts and had depictions of a stripper doesn't mean it is "a weeknd type" song. If y'all listened to Pyramids properly you'd know that it is about a lot more than some dude talking about a stripper.

That's what I don't get. How can you give a nikka credit for somebody else's shyt. Weeknd has nothing that sounds like pyramids. They are not even the same type artist at that. Never mind the filler that's on all of his mixtapes.

I'm comparing them strictly from the music that I've heard from them and it isn't like the comparison is so out far out there as if we're comparing a rapper to an R&B artist. Their both singers and not in the same vein of what you'd expect from traditional R&B. As far as the highlight of Frank Ocean's music being his "lyrical prowess" and delivery- I don't see it, especially the latter part of the statement. That's my number one problem with his music and that's the fact that he can't sing (deliver) the lyrics well. On watch The Throne, I could literally hear his voice crackling as he tried to take his voice up an octave. Now when it comes to the Weeknd, people say that his voice sounds manufactured, but at least, his voice sounds good on a record.

LOL @ Weeknds music being nothing more than Trip-hop for druggies. If that's the case, I can say Frank Ocean's music is for no one, but atheists, homosexuals (or people who support homosexuality), with a side drink of Pop.

And here comes the expected Dream comparisons . Look in my post and find where I said that he created the sound. And since you mentioned the Dream, could you point me in the direction of songs that Dream has something similar to the formula that I alluded to not named "Fancy?" Dream almost matches traditional R&B to a tee.
